  • Estimates of child abuse range from 10-20% of all school age children in the UK. Any person who is working in a classroom (including TAs and volunteers) has had some amount of safeguarding training to help mitigate the risk of harm to children.

It is literally our/their job to help prevent or mitigate harm that might come to children in their home lives, and teachers, admins, and safeguarding leads make decisions every day based on a clear and well-monitored framework to do so. This decision, made by people with little or no experience in the field, spits in the face of all of that.

  • I gave up teaching two years after moving to the UK, it's an absolute mess.

I can only imagine needing to fill out the "inform the parent" form and then immediately needing to fill out a safeguarding form (something you fill out any time you note anything like bruises, comments, out of sort actions, etc.). It's absolutely tragic.

  • Probably A Goofy Movie. I had it on VHS and watched it over and over, the themes in it were just exactly what I needed to hear as a tween. It probably fell behind in the count for a while, but now I have Disney plus and rewatch it pretty regularly. And yes, I've seen the Atlanta episode, I had no idea, and it's hilarious.

  • I've clicked a few links about walkthrough questions for niche games, but deleted the app (yes, I used the official app) on the 12th and haven't logged in since. Kbin/Lemmy is great for content and I'm loving the interaction on Mastadon.

  • I joined right around the blackout, and the amount of content, especially content I enjoy has increased considerably. Everytime I open the app there are new things to read, which definitely wasn't the case a month ago.

So mass exodus, nah, even if every new user of Lemmy, Kbin and all the other alternatives left Reddit completely we're a single digit percentage at most. But mass adoption, definitely. With the smaller user base pre-apiexit its much easier to notice all the new contributing users.

  • Lots of great games, but as already mentioned the FTP are a mess. I subscribe to the Google Play Pass, which give me a pretty good selection of games with no ads or in-app purchases. Helps protect me from the crap out there so its worth it IMO.

  • Yeah, I started with my childhood dream job, lasted about 12 years, then moved into my adult dream job, that lasted 6. Now I'm a stay-at-home husband and both my wife and I are happier than ever.

She works, I handle the cleaning, cooking, and general adulting, we both have way more free time and when you factor in commuting costs, food delivery because we're both too tired to cook, work lunches, etc. it's not a huge financial difference.

  • Yup, imagine starting a fight, after which the other person beats you with a baseball bat a few times and just kicks you while your down for a while and eventually gets bored and walks away... And then you get up and declare, "I Won!"
