  • (I'll add links / descriptions later)

I host the following fediverse stuff:

And these are other things I host:

    • Cryptpad (2 instances)
    • Gitea

    • Minecraft
    • Nextcloud
    • Nginx Proxy Manager
    • Paperless-ngx
    • TheLounge
    • Vaultwarden
    • Zabbix
    • Zammad
  • Anything that the family uses. Because when I cease to exist, my wife isn't gonna take over self-hosting! So e-mail, chat, documents etc.

  • No problem, it's good to ask those questions. Sometimes we also learn from them. The outages of last days were because of database queries that took very long, which were fired many times. This is being looked into.

  • The downtime is not related to user growth. We do however plan to change our registration page, so it will refer to other instances and explain Federation in short. New users will be advised to choose other instances but will still have the option to sign-up here if they would like.

But all the troubleshooting these downtimes hasn't left a lot of time to work on this...

  • I'll check the new way Lemmy detects dead servers, it's possible an outage caused lemmy.ml to think we're dead (we're not!) :-)

  • Yup. We might be on to something now

  • Ooh... Silverbullet looks really useful!! Just installed, need to figure out what I can do, looks like a lot of functionality!

  • No, it's just the tables/indexes and application were changed by the Lemmy developers.

  • No, we did some rate limiting to try and fight off some attacks, but now some are too strict. We'll tune these so they won't bother you anymore.

  • Me too. Creating a db dump now..

  • Yep, I like good tips like these. :-) Thanks

  • Those stats are not a Lemmy feature, they are a feature of the app you use. (If I understand correctly).

  • I'm in contact with him, I'll let him know.

  • Good to know, I'll skip this update for now..
