Based on replies to this post it’s a legit unpopular opinion lol. I agree with you but for different reasons maybe. “Expressing” one’s self via fashion choices is pretty environmentally damaging as practiced in most modern westernized societies, especially practices like fast fashion. I think there are lots of ways to express oneself without having to a constantly changing wardrobe. Of course reducing wardrobe in and of itself will not save the environment but it’s one step among many.

This is a gun thread. But if you’re implying that taxing gas has not stopped Americans from driving big ass trucks, realize that the USA does not nearly tax gas as much as other modern nations and in fact we subsidize it. In most other countries few people drive big ass trucks precisely because it’s so expensive.

There was a recent story on NPR that addressed this. I can’t find it now but basically it said that all these studies in isolation have issues but now there appears to be a trend that transcends national boundaries and cultures.

It’s stupid because they don’t understand probability and risk assessment. Yeah there are side effects but they are exceedingly rare and even if you get them the outcomes are usually far less severe than the disease you’re trying to prevent. Having worked with folks developing VR/AR tech for “Real Work” and not for the average consumer (for instance, medical education), I’ve seen what current VR/AR tech is like (it’s not great) and the developers I’ve worked with are super excited about Apple’s headset.

I’ve not seen this meme format before but I’m really liking it! It’s more wholesome than the Captain America in an elevator template.
