Am I the only one who think that we are at the final years for mainstream piracy?

Funnily enough, I just use my old Stadia controller. Works perfectly with wired or wireless (in order to utilize Bluetooth, you need to use Google's tool to "unlock" the Bluetooth mode on it - you only need to do this once), and I can't say I've ever had a game not work with it. I think it just emulates Xinput/an Xbox controller under the hood?
Before that however, I just used an Xbox One controller (particularly, the "Xbox One S" ones that have native Bluetooth support, but my non-S one worked fine over both wired and with the addon dongle that you can purchase) which also always worked out for me. I think I still prefer the Stadia controller for how it feels in the hand, and the fact that it uses USB-C however.
At some point I would like to pickup a GuliKit KK3 Max controller since it seems quite intriguing, however I can't really justify the price point when my Stadia controller works just fine for me.
Good god, I was finally prescribed Ambien for the first time recently, and I definitely now realize why it has the reputation that it does.
Fucking Crohn's Disease sucks. All of my "adventures" with it have been painful, but the one that takes the cake:
A couple of years ago, my GI wanted me to do a pill endoscopy test, which is where they basically have you swallow a pill that has a camera embedded in it, and it takes pictures while it traverses your insides. You're supposed to naturally "pass" it like anything else you eat, but in my case I did not, and it got stuck. My GI did not believe me, and it just kept getting worse and worse. To put a timeframe on things, this happened in early February of that year.
I had ER trip after ER trip throughout that year, they determined that it wasn't going to pass on its own and needed to be surgically removed, but since it was not "life threatening" they couldn't just wheel me into an OR immediately and have it done, it had to be scheduled. Took forever to find a surgeon to schedule me under. One of the times that I was in the hospital due to this, the doctor on my "care" team wanted me to do what she called a "supreme bowel cleanse" to see if that would dislodge it. I was hesitant to do it, but I was pretty much willing to do anything at that point to end this nightmare, and only because she promised me that if it didn't work, they'd take me into surgery and do it the old fashioned way. That ordeal was terrible, I've had Crohn's since before I was a teenager, I'm very used to doing colonoscopy prep - this was far worse than that, the pain was unbearable and the amount of bowel cleanse that they gave me must've been right at the border of their ethical limits (or at least, I imagine that has to be a thing, right?) and plot twist she did not hold up her end of the bargain when the pill still did not pass, instead she gave me a few days worth of pain meds and discharged me the next day.
My condition continued to get worse and worse, yet my operation wasn't scheduled till early July. The hospital that the surgeon worked for agreed to pre-admit me into their care 2 months in advanced because it got to the point where I could barely even hold down regular water and I had to be put on IV nutrition with a PICC line and all.
Fast forward to the operation day, they ended up having to do two surgeries in one go, the first being to remove the pill, and the second was to try to fix the damage that had been revealed on the camera. The moment I woke up from the operation I was screaming in pain, and begging them to put me back under (which they could not do). They kept giving me pain meds and I'd end up passing out eventually from the pain, wake back up, and the whole ordeal would start again. Eventually they put me on one of those self-administered pain med pumps where I could click a button every so often and it would give me some pain medication through my IV.
I didn't end up going home until the very beginning of September (first week I believe), and I had arrived there sometime in the middle of May. I will never do one of those pill endoscopy tests ever again. I also switched GIs since my current one at that time had refused to listen to me when I told her something was wrong at the beginning of the "experience".
In 8 years I could probably get get a double masters in programming and game development and make a better game myself.
Please do ping me with the link to the game on Steam once it's done 👍
Yeah, blizzard games have pretty much always worked for me on Linux, they were among the first games to "just work" on Linux without a lot of hassle for me.
In my first year of high school, we actually went out to the massive Toyota truck factory in San Antonio, Texas as a field trip! Definitely the best field trip of all time (at least, for my area), I can't actually remember the purpose of the trip (if it was tied to a lesson plan at the time, or if we just did it because it was cool).
I remember being really amazed at the automatic robots that whirred around the facility. Sadly I do not have any pictures of the trip (and even if I'd had the means to do so, that was so long ago that I definitely wouldn't still have copies anyways) however there is an article here from a team that took a tour, they even cover the "Stop, Point, Look" policy that they made us follow while we were in the manufacturing plant.
At the time, I believe their "Tacoma" model of pickup trucks were only assembled in that plant (at least, in the US) - this doesn't seem to actually be the case anymore, but I heavily recall them mentioning some model of truck that was only made there.
If they're using Fedora, then it is highly likely that they are using GRUB as you have to very much go out of your way to utilize systemd-boot on Fedora the last time I checked.
I absolutely love Moshidon!
Thank you!
Yep! I'm pretty sure I can remember Resetti in the original Gamecube version making me cry as a kid after getting yelled at for accidentally turning off the system without saving...
I also remember Phyllis, who basically hated your guts for interrupting her night shift.
And of course there's the actual villagers of the town too, some of them were definitely a lot more... liberal... with you, personality wise!
Well, my father's funeral service was today. I lost him at the beginning of the month.
It's been rough. There were a lot of issues between him and I during my childhood which caused me to quickly cut off contact with him after I moved out. But I'd always hoped that eventually there would be a way to fix things, and now that will never happen.
So there's a lot of guilt. I do not think it was wrong to remove him from my life, but it was never intended to be a permanent thing - it's forever written in stone as it is now though.
I need to get into some grief counseling, but starting that process has been difficult for me. It doesn't help that I already have a lot of other medical issues constantly ongoing, and now this is just another thing to add to the list.
lol.
Listen, I'm not going to lie and say that Linux is all sunshine and rainbows, because it isn't - but neither is Windows. But I can play this game too!
- Minecraft runs faster for me on Linux than it does on Windows, I get frequent stutters in Windows especially when trying to use mods (the same exact profile has zero issues on Linux).
- In fact, some shitty software that I used to have to install for work would constantly cause Minecraft to randomly die in the middle of the game's initialization.
- Oh, and I had a friend who couldn't get the Minecraft Launcher to even prompt the Microsoft account sign in screen, we eventually tracked it down to the fact that he had uninstalled Edge (through the control panel - not with some hacky script or whatever), which apparently breaks the ability for the game to display the OAuth authorization screen. Did it ever tell us that this was the issue? No, we had to spend time tracking it down.
- Razer's software was so horrible in Windows that it would quite literally cause Windows Explorer to not startup properly unless I didn't have the hardware connected when I logged in. Otherwise it was a roll of the dice whether Explorer and the rest of the desktop shell would start. There is zero reason that having a peripheral plugged in should cause Windows' services to not start properly. OpenRazer on Linux has never caused anything like this, and works flawlessly. Nope, don't blame it on Razer. As an end-user, I don't care about that.

Even tracking the problem down to it being due to Razer was a major pain.
Windows has all sorts of issues constantly, however according to the Microsoft forums all I have to do is run some random DISM command to fix it, I'm sure that'll definitely do the trick /s
Oh speaking of gaming - have you ever tried to use the Microsoft Store for games (which is required if you use game pass - a Microsoft first-party service)? Good luck. And if you do manage to get it to work, but have to reinstall Windows because of the fact that its had some random bullshit problem that requires a reinstall, god help you if you had your game pass games on a separate partition. You would think you'd just be able to tell Windows where the games are and not have to reinstall those - but nope, your account doesn't own those files (even though you're logged in with the same Microsoft account that they practically force you to login with these days just to access the desktop)! Due to the sandboxing, you can't change the permissions back either. But also, since you don't own those files, you can't delete them either - and Microsoft requires that the game pass games go in a specific directory on that partition that... you now can't modify because you dONt HaVE PerMISsioN tO DO thAT! So you need to either format the partition completely, or in my case since I had other stuff that I didn't feel the need to copy somewhere else just to then copy it back, delete the WindowsApps
folder FROM LINUX. What in the actual fuck???
Finally, after you've done all that, and have installed Forza, a Microsoft First-Party Game you can't play multiplayer because the networking services are broken:

[There are so many more, the posts are endless but I think this proves my point]
[Actually no, just to make sure, have a few more]
Oh hey, look, a guide to fix the problem https://techcult.com/fix-forza-horizon-4-unable-to-join-session-xbox-one/ - NINE different methods to supposedly "fix" the problem, including the almighty lord and savior DISM reset command!
People act like Windows is some holy gift from god and is perfect - it isn't. Anyone whose been using Windows for more than 6 months knows that this is the case, they're just used to dealing with Microsoft's bullshit.
Everyone who says Windows is a viable alternative as a daily driver for things other than using Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel is just delusional.

Along with Helldivers 2, I can confirm Apex Legends works as well. Valorant as far as I'm aware is a definite no-go though.
Just adding on, ProtonDB is a great resource for checking game compatibility!
Thankfully I do have the Steam version! I made my Epic account far before they bought out Psyonix so I'm pretty sure my Epic account has been linked to Steam for a while, so it never asked me to explicitly login.
Rocket League! It plays at a smooth 90FPS on the OLED Deck which is really nice.
Additionally, some ARPGs - Last Epoch, Diablo 4, and I'm trying out Path of Exile (but we'll see about that one) since I've been really into those as of recently.
I tried The First Descendant on the Steam Deck but unfortunately it seems to be just unstable enough FPS-wise, and for some reason the game completely disconnects you from the servers if your framerate is unstable for too long.
What an end of an era!
Why hello there! 👋
As long as you're still signed into BW from any of your devices, you can always export the vault from there.
(But yes, actual backups are always a plus)
That makes sense - it might be worth making a post on one of the various Linux communities here to see if anyone is able to help you with that sort of setup, the ones I'm aware of are:
IIRC this was in regards to Microsoft wanting to close access to the kernel, while also still wanting to use kernel-level APIs for their security suite - which does come down to anticompetitive practices.
However, if Microsoft were not to offer separate products that used kernel-level APIs then in theory it would not have this same issue, which I assume is how Apple gets away with it. But, I am not a lawyer so its just speculation on my part.
