  • You may be interested in Aska. It asks the question "what if valheim was also a colony sim?". It's a bit less chill then Stardew/Portia, but it is a classless, moneyless community building game.

  • Influenza spreads better in the winter, but Covid seams to peak twice through the year, once in summer and again in winter. The best way to track it is through wastewater surveillance. This is the US tracking dashboard, not sure if Canada has something similar. https://www.cdc.gov/nwss/index.html

  • City builders and colony builders are major time sinks. Anything with micro-tasks. I just need to finish this one building, I just need to finish this prisoner recruit, I just need to ... And then it's 3 am and you have to wake up at 6 for work. Civilization games do this to me too.

  • Ryobi garden tools are legit. I have the 40V string trimmer and 40V mower, and an 18V leaf blower, and so far I have no complaints. I once heard someone say that Ryobi tools are R&D for Milwaukee (as they are the same parent company).

My shop tools are all DeWalt because that's what my parents and wife's parents bought us for gifts.

  • Definitely! Peak and Plunge podcast did a really good episode on deep sea mining. Last week tonight also did a great EP on deep sea mining.

Long story short - it will decimate all sea floor life, and is likely to eradicate many currently unknown species.

  • As a district 4 resident I'll add some more context (and reason why we need ranked choice voting nationally). The Republican primary was packed, with 6 total candidates. Boebert only got 43% of the vote, and the next closest was Sonnenberg at 13%. The non-MAGA conservatives spread their votes across all the other candidates. With ranked choice, it would be a much closer margin. I'm not saying she would have lost, but over 50% of voting repubs wanted someone else over Boebert.

The "good" news is Boebert is pooling poorly vs Dems in the district, which means we have a chance to flip district 4 blue in November.
