  • In many fictional universes, they do move your particles from one spot to the next, though. And even if you want to think of it as a new entity, it's a 1:1 copy including the body, which is IMO a critical difference to recreating a human brain in digital space.

  • Actually, the mustard in my fridge contains more fat and protein than starch or sugar. And that's actually very common for seeds, many of them contain more than 50% fat.

And y'know, the essential oils kind of dominate the taste. It's not peanut butter FFS.

  • Hard to top Meta right now. Propaganda enables all the other bullshit from the likes of Nestle, fossil fuel companies, certain car makers, surveillance companies etc., and people don't even get that Facebook and Instagram are even an issue beyond "social media is inherently bad"-sentiments (in contrast to x/twitter, which saw a large exodus recently).

Though if I'm honest, it's not just social media - even "respectable" print and tv publications have been pushing the "brown people are violent criminals"-narrative, which is pretty much entirely a fabrication according to statistics (at least here in Germany).

  • You really think he doesn't have any disorders? He's a dead ringer for autism.

lacking in social interactions due to lack of empathy and inability to recognize social patterns such as nuanced jokes

    Autism.

  • I enjoy collecting achievements, but I almost never get 100% of them - a lot of the games I play have achievements for finishing the game on several difficulty levels, and I'm definitely not 'autistic enough' for that. TBH I'm usually content with 50% achievements.

I can see the appeal for games where collecting achievements isn't extremely time-intensive, though.

  • Did you read the article? It doesn't really support your point. Though I agree that illnesses like fatty liver disease are probably a more pressing issue than the increased cancer risk.

    Results:
    Forty ingredients (80%) had articles reporting on their cancer risk. Of 264 single-study assessments, 191 (72%) concluded that the tested food was associated with an increased (n = 103) or a decreased (n = 88) risk; 75% of the risk estimates had weak (0.05 > P ≥ 0.001) or no statistical (P > 0.05) significance. [...] Meta-analyses (n = 36) presented more conservative results; only 13 (26%) reported an increased (n = 4) or a decreased (n = 9) risk (6 had more than weak statistical support).

  • With the low level of detail that's used for most anime faces and the wild (by Japanese standards, anyway) hair colors, it's usually pretty much impossible to tell without context whether a character is meant to be asian or european.

On a more ideological level, Japan was allied with Nazi Germany and committed a lot of atrocities back then, and they always had strong anti-immigration policies and an advantageous position to enforce them (island nation, difficult writing system etc.).
