  • Even worse with motorcycles. Seems like most people own motorcycles specifically for "fun" (waste fuel and make noise).

And just generally being loud. Even regular cars can be loud if you drive like an asshole.

  • It's not extremely rare. Many native south europeans are lactose intolerant, too (I don't remember the exact numbers but IIRC it was the majority in places like southern Italy) and there's lots of people from other continents in Europe nowadays.

  • Very few animals (probably none) that rely on venom have any need for killing elephants, including those who live near elephants. What's a spider supposed to do with a 2 ton carcass?

  • My pronounciation is awful, too, but that doesn't matter on lemmy!

And I'm still convinced that an English-language video conference with Germans is usually going to be better than with French people.

  • German subs were really big on Reddit, too.

Germany is the second largest country in Europe by population, they don't really have their own social media like e.g. Russia or China and they're much better at English than most other big countries that are not already English native speakers.

  • German governments certainly don't act like this isn't the plan. It's not that they're doing nothing to reduce emissions, but they're not doing their part to prevent this (even if it's inevitable at this point given the global political climate, but at least the EU could do a lot more and Germany has considerable influence there).

  • Yeah, I did those. What helped me was using very little pressure when putting the tins together, barely enough to create a seal. Some guides suggest pushing them together with a smack to create a seal, which is rather counterproductive when your issue is not being able to open it quickly.

  • Reminds me of when I tried doing some cocktails with a boston shaker (two metal tins). It's pretty easy to get those stuck - since metal bends it's probably easier to get then unstuck than a ceramic bowl, but the cocktail is probably ruined after you have been trying to get the tins unstuck for a couple of minutes. Plus the potential spillage.

  • Parents

  • Which ones? Give me an example, please. And are all people supposed to be open or receptive or knowledgeable about every single topic?

e.g. they could be cool about normal/common interests like football, mainstream music and heterosexual relationships and uncool when their children instead like punk rock, ballet (for boys) or homosexual relationships. They don't necessarily need to be knowledgable from the get-go, but they do need to be open-minded. Most children will happily explain their interests to you if you (the parents) didn't discourage that behavior in the past. If it's a longterm interest of your child, you should probably look into it yourself to become knowledgable on it.
