  • Abbott: “uhh, nuh doy, they’re prisoners, you do the crime you do the time” [puts on cowboy hat, does wheelchair line dance, fires six-shooters into sky]

Absolutely nothing will be done about this and DeSantis is trying to one-up them by baking non incarcerated people alive

  • Because the Soviet Union was a communist dictatorship, which the GOP hated (the communist part of it, anyway), and modern Russia is kleptocratic oligarchy, which the GOP loves. Easy enough to tease out, really.

  • Okay, gotcha, I was looking at it from their point of view, which is that everything to them is bigotry, not realizing that that’s what you were saying in the first place. The bad, it is mine.

  • .ml tends to slap "rule 1" on everything, which says don't be a bigot, even if that's obviously not what the comment was about.

    [emphasis mine]

Sure about that? From what I’ve seen, anything said in disagreement with the predominant opinion over there (and on hexbear, especially on hexbear) is deemed “bigotry”. They don’t appear to be interested in ingratiating anyone to the cause.

  • Zoomers aren’t even 30 yet and the oldest of Alphas (incl. my daughter) are just preteens. That said, you’re right, they are in grave danger of having the wool pulled over their eyes by viral disinformation campaigns; however, they have massive potential to use all that for benevolent purposes. We also have some time and opportunity yet to teach them the importance of civic duty and the critical thinking they will need to combat the gauntlet of scams they’ll be running through in the years to come.

  • SCoAZ: [bans abortion]

AZ GOP: [freaks out over upcoming electoral bloodbath] “we do not agree with the draconian measure that the Supreme Court has taken”

Also AZ GOP: [freaks out over maga chud response to equivocation; immediately upholds ban]

  • That connectivity in hard-to-reach places—much like free speech absolutism—is conditional upon whether he (or the dictator of an invading force, with whom he agrees) will allow it

[edit] and apparently Starlink may not even be profitable, with its accounting described as “more art than science” which always bodes well

  • A couple of decades ago I listened to a story about a guy who was ultimately saved from death row; when the family of the victim was interviewed, one of them said that she didn’t agree with the decision, that even after being told that this guy had been proven not to be the murderer, she didn’t care, someone had to pay for killing her sister.

That’s when I learned that the death penalty is not at all about justice. It’s revenge.
