  • I'm using "Unexpected Keyboard" right now. I like that it's different in that I dont have to long press a key in order to input punctuation. It's a swipe from the center of a key to a corner and I think it's that little bit faster. :)

Also doesn't have auto-correct like other FOSS keyboards.

  • Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact.

The very last true compact phone with a 3.5mm jack, FM radio, in-device noise cancelling (only with proprietry 5-pole earphones) and hardware camera shutter button.

Oh, not to forget tool-less sim tray removal. This phone had it all.

  • I actually upgraded to the Zenfone 8 from the XZ1C. I still miss the size as well as the dedicated camera shuttrr button. I also find it amazing that Sony went with a pull out sim tray. No more needing to poke a small pin just to eject it.

  • I too would like a smallerphone as well. Bringing back the 3.5mm jack would be a bonus, but a smaller phone is higher on my priority list. Even better if it's the same size as my old Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact.

  • An alternative air cooler you can consider is the Deep Cool AK620. It's cheaper than the Noctua NH-D15 and probably a couple of degrees off in cooling efficienct. I have it with my Ryzen 5600 and am very happy with the performnce.

Note that whichever cooler you decide to get, their websites should also have a link for case and ram compatibility. You don't want to end up in a situation where the ram is too tall because of the rgb lights or the case can't be covered up.

  • Definitely. Now I just occasionally mention that I have and use more privacy friendly alternatives as a sort of "fyi" for them to know. It's better for the other parties to want to switch out of their own desires than to be forced. If it is forced upon them and things don't go smoothly, you'll end up getting resentment or worse, blamed. Better to use subtle encouragement and if they decide to switch, offer lots of useful advice and assistance.

  • Origin "We create worlds". They definitely did with the Wing Commander series. Played a lot of WC 3, 4 as well as Privateer.

I don't think anyone mentioned Lionhead Studios. Black and White was fun. Sadly it's in copyright limbo if I'm not mistaken.

Also played a lot of Civilization 1 from Microprose back in the day.

  • So I decided to bite the bullet and did a fresh install of Fedora 39 and that appeared to have made the issue go away. In the process of installing updates and configuring it the way I like, the monitor control buttons on both monitors response. So, it seems like the cause of the issue could have been a glitch during an update. Who knows? At least I know that it's not a hardware issue (cross finders). :)
