  • Take it up with Wikipedia. like someone else pointed out there is not really a consensus as to what is specifically called a continent or even how many continents there are.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continent

Oh look Australia has 2 pages, one for the country: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia

and one for the continent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia_(continent)

Should you find it weird when any Australian calls themselves Australian and not Commonwealth of Australian? Because as you can see that's the full name.

I'm from Colombia and thought it was weird at first since in Spanish you refer to Americans as Estado Unidenses. Which in hindsight is the weird thing because you don't really do that for other countries. You don't call people from la Republica de Colombia "Republicanos" you call them "Colombianos".

If people from the United States of America want to call themselves Americans, then it makes 100% sense since the "America" in the name of the country is the only part that's actually a proper name and not a descriptor.

Linking here the demonym from people for the United States of America is Americans because United Statetians? would just be weird. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demonyms_for_the_United_States

  • Yeah its not illegal for an 18 year old to date a 50 year old. You can still recognize that the 50 year old in this case is a creep.

No bank will give a home loan to an 18 year old that doesn't have income. They will happily give them a student loan and saddle them in debt for life though because the loan can't be discharged. That scenario is legal and is also rightfully criticized.

You say let them die in a war like thats a feature and something the teenager wants. Governments would conscript younger teens if they could get away with it.

  • I agree with the article only using the word rape to describe that they were threatened to be anally raped. I think calling everything rape dilutes the meaning of the word. Forcefully stuffing a plastic or silicon object in someone's mouth doesnt quite fit the word. Cops are absolute vile pieces of shit and I'm annoyed I had to read the article to know what the misleading headline was talking about. The comments weren't helping either.

  • Anyone know how this affects a homemaker that still has student loans. Is the income based on the household income or the loan holder whose current income is 0?

    Edit:

From a nerdwallet article I found this:

Benefits for some married borrowers. Spousal income for borrowers who are married and file taxes separately will be excluded from IDR payment calculations; spouses no longer required to co-sign your IDR application.

So it looks like maybe filing separate can be a possibility though have to research any other tax implications.

  • I have never used Git professionally but I'll tell you the three biggest pain points when working with SVN that I know Git has proper solutions.

No local commits. On the latest SVN versions there is the concept of "shelves" which just basically puts your changes in a separate folder... as of last I checked it was still in Beta but it works decently.

Common code is a pain in SVN. The only way you can do this is using the externals property which has annoyances that seem to be handled better by Git Subtrees.

Commit squashing doesn't exist in SVN. Not a problem for me personally but I've worked with some people that make me really wish I could squash their commits.

  • CCS communication protocol not the port itself. Tesla only used a proprietary communication protocol, now they also support CCS communication protocol. Basically means all you need is an adaptor and everything should be interoperable.

Technology Connections just made a whole video about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZJOfyMCEzjQ

  • Had to reenable the script to test. a and shift a do the same. a only works on posts that do not have a fedi link. If the post has a fedi link if you press a once it saves it, press a a second time it opens the fedi link.
