  • I love how literally nobody is answering your actual question.

I agree that this is problematic and we need TV reviews to include at least some of the information you cite.

If it helps, I have an LG smart TV. It complains if you don't let it access the internet at setup, but if you connect it once and let it do its initial patching, you can decline all agreements and not get nagged until it tries to update again. To keep it from further updates, you can disconnect it from wifi and it doesn't seem to try to reconnect. I can't speak to public wifi because there aren't any open access points near my TV.

In contrast, I have a samsung TV that loses its mind if it can't connect to the internet and becomes basically useless for all the nagging.

  • “Jovian hurricane force” would be more accurate.

  • Why must you fail me so often? FUUUUCK!!!

  • If you're talking about the florida gov not taking Biden and Harriss's calls, that won't hold up aid at all. He has spoken with the head of FEMA, which is what actually starts the ball rolling.

If you're referring to the GOP voting against FEMA and disaster relief funding bills... fuckifiknow

  • I won’t buy it with denuvo, period. As far as game mechanics goes, I’m fine(ish) with what I’ve seen so far but I wouldn’t pre-order.

  • The windows version of civ 6 runs better on Linux than the “native” version. I hope they do a better job with 7 but I’m not gonna hold my breath.

  • AFAIK ex-presidents aren’t allowed to leave the country without specific permission, due to all the classified crap in their heads. If one tried to flee the country, it would be their detail’s duty to detain them.

Heck, they’re not even allowed to drive in public roads… not that Trump has probably ever driven a car.

  • The horse archers in civ 6 are so pathetically lame that the only reason to build even one is to get 3 points toward a golden age. The computer builds swarms of them, of course, but anything can kill them, even a recon unit.

  • I've never tried one, but now it seems I have to.

  • Cinnamon apple jelly should be more common too! (Not apple butter… fuck Apple butter).

    Apple cinnamon all the things!

  • Paprika 3 recipe manager does that too, plus it adds it to a local database, without any AI bullshit or HP account.

  • This is why I use a right angle connector cable and gaffer tape the cable to the back or bottom of the keyboard. It’s fugly but it prevents this exact problem.

  • I am retired and you're describing me, other than the fact that you'd have to pay me to watch soccer. I watch bicycle racing instead. It's a damn nice life.

  • I’m with you. If there weren’t health and social complications, I’d be wishing for full-blown alopecia.

  • I’m super lazy. I started losing my hair at age 14 and it was pretty much all over by 30. I didn’t give in and start shaving the fringes until 40-something

  • My solution to the problem was to preemptively lose all my hair in my thirties but yours probably works too.

  • I have been, but I ate beans or potatoes, not rice. I know lemmy loves to bang on about beans and rice but it’s not my thing. Growing up in a farm community meant there was a lot of cheap food to be found locally.
