  • That is what a router is, switches are generally a separate thing. It is only the home hybrids that combine the two different things.

I have two separate networks in my home + WAN the router combines all 3 as they are designed for. The switches just switch the packets in those separate networks. (and not to get all fancy with layer 3 switches)

  • Well they actually want him to be king / dictator lmao

It reminds me of the George Washington story. After they defeated the brits a bunch of people wanted to make him king... after they just got done sailing 3000 miles and almost a decade of war just to GET RID OF HAVING A KING. (and other stuff) The baboons that wanted that are this same voter base.

  • he hasn't even heard of popos which is a good 50x more popular than bazzite. so obviously he's here from a "gamers can use this distro" post/video and not familiar with much else

  • "a quick visit to wikipedia" is a good example confirming what I said, majority of people are not willing to do that to learn any subject. 0.483% of humans are engineers, of that I'd say there are a small chunk that are near worthless and probably don't even know these basics.

  • Yea, but the entire rotation of pdf is from scanned pdfs that are rasterized anyway

if you're manipulating pdfs exported via a computer program I doubt you'd ever need to rotate them, but in that case qpdf etc are better

  • You have to set the quality to 100 and density to something high (150 or 300) because it'll set it to 72ppi and it also has to become before the input file name. It's like GS and wants virtually every parameter set by you and the defaults are like bare minimum it doesn't take them from the actual file.

That being said just use qpdf or pdftk lmao

  • I would guess 90% of "IT" people don't know what POST (in web context, maybe bios since they might have taken an A+ cert class lmao) means nor do they know how basic http or web servers work. Most of IT are help desk and do not know technology well but are comfortable enough to tell people to reboot, uninstall/reinstall stuff, reformat, google an issue they can't figure out.. Which is better than 99% of the world.

  • jpeg xl does support lossless and their 69 page paper does mention this so I am unsure why they are putting the lossy aspect of this as the comparison to their "lossless ZIP COMPRESSION of OpenEXR"

page 51 has more detail on compression stuff. The openEXR does also support lossy. Anyway I think page 51-52 would answer it for someone that knows more about openEXR which I sure don't

Their comparison images do clearly show data being lost as well so they aren't even using visually lossless of jpeg xl they are actually just going full lossy. Must be some use case somewhere?
