Americans, how do you feel about being stored in a database by government agencies like the NSA?

  • If there had been an earlier interdiction, I'm reasonably certain the Nazi's Final Solution would not have come to fruition. Or been stopped far earlier than D-Day. I'm pretty sure Senator Graham's argument is exactly that.

  • I don't think so. My father was in the RAF during the war. Bombed by the Germans and shot at by the Japanese. He is also the reason I'm a pacifist.

    His brother-in-law was part of the BEF, that was rescued at Dunkirk.

    Neither of them were particularly chatty about the war.

    I think that for those that faced the horror of the war, almost all of them would have preferred not to have to endure that brutality. If an earlier intervention with Hitler could have prevented D-Day, I think most veterans of that conflict would be all for it.

  • I have read through book 10 twice. I have listened through book 10 once (currently half way through).

    While I love Horatio Hornblower, I love Honor more.

    I do not read science fiction. It's just not my thing, but when War of Honor was published, Baen published it with a CD of all the prior books bound into the cover. I thought this was a cool thing to do and wanted to support it, so bought the book with no intention of actually reading it.

    Well that plan didn't work out.

    You'll discover as you get deeper into the series that even Honor knows she's literarily related to Hornblower.

  • I won't be retiring. Not particularly good with money, plus a divorce, I'm 60, and have about 200K in retirement. It's my own fault, I could have been far smarter. Now was always far more important than then.

    The fact that the NY Post's Twitter account was suspended, and Twitter did not allow the link to the article shared on the platform even via DMs. While FB deamplified the news may have had an effect on the election. So obviously some left leaning individuals cared about it very much and wanted the news about it shut down prior to the election.
