  • This is a really interesting take, I've never thought about RPGs this way. I'm guessing this is why Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time, followed by Red Dead Redemption and and GTA V.

Thanks for giving me a new take on this.

  • Wood ships.

David Weber loves Age of Sail warfare. In fact Honor Harrington is a tribute to Horatio Hornblower.

There is a Sci Fi wrapper around the story.

None of the characters are who I want to be when I grow up. Where Honor is. But the story telling us top notch.

  • My mother died of dementia. I'm closing in on 60, so already my mental acuity is on the wane.

And now any time I can't remember something I kind of stress.

I'll hopefully not go down that road, but those events scare the hell out of me.

  • It's beautiful.

From where we live a bunch of interesting places are within an easy drive. Nashville, Indianapolis, Cincinnati are all three hours or less away.

The people are mostly kind and mostly polite.

The cost of living is relatively low.

The pace of life feels slower.

  • We are all responsible for our own mental health. The OP is not responsible for anyone's mental health but his own.

Saying some discussion needs to be hidden away because someone somewhere may react negatively is patently ridiculous and damaging to society.

I have a trigger, and just like my self-harm it is atypical, I am triggered by parents showing pride in their children. Doesn't matter if it's real life, or film, or book. It always turns me into a wreck, and sometimes has me believing I'm worthless in dangerous ways.

Should my expectation be that those around me not show pride in their children? Should I demand warnings on all material that depicts parents showing pride in their children? It's ridiculous. My trigger is MY responsibility.
