  • My first thought as well. There is NO way this doesn't get struck down in a court case. If you can't even ban guns on streets near schools (US v. Lopez) then you definitely can't ban a person from driving on a road to get to a medical procedure in a different state.

  • Yeah - I'm not a lawyer, but my casual understanding is you can get out of that gotcha if you apply the rule equally to everyone at the company. No legal action against these RTO mandates has been successful so far.

That being said, I didn't fully read the article. Roblox is offering severance to those who don't want to RTO - that's less shitty than a lot of the other tech companies.

  • Dumb take.

I'm in my 30s and working an office job is way less stressful overall than school was. When I'm done with work, I can go home and stop thinking about it.

With school, you can never study "enough", so its always creeping in the back of your subconscious. And good grades alone don't cut it - you've also got to participate in extracurriculars and turn yourself into a trained monkey to write an "interesting enough" college essay. Oh and if you screw any of this up, your entire adult life could be ruined.

Diligent students have it way harder than office workers. Kids need our support and sympathy.

  • I paid for it for a few months. I did it mostly to throw them a few bucks because I have heavily used their video calling for years.

The only feature I found remotely valuable was 1080p streaming. My friends and I often do movie night on Discord, and being able to watch full-res at higher bandwidth was nice. I also used the feature that let's you post longer messages, but I consider that bullshit because that's just an arbitrary restriction they impose on free users to try and drum up cash.

I've since cancelled because I'm unhappy with the features they've been using my money on. I don't care about animated profile gimmicks or crappy video call games. And I don't like the way they shove them in your face when you open the app.
