  • swing and a miss

the point is that they're trying to pretend they're protecting us from propaganda by seizing the propaganda platform and operating it themselves. you don't trust the CCP and neither do I. Let's take that as read. do you trust the US government? if this is dangerous, why not shut it down? hell, why not go a step further and make it illegal for anyone to do?

  • Giving the state the power to kill a certain class of people is a great way to get the state to reclassify anyone inconvenient as a member of that class so they can be murdered legally. With that being said, I'm unlikely to get Vietnam to eliminate the death penalty entirely or be mistaken for a corrupt billionaire so maybe this will remind the other billionaires that they're made of soft, fragile meat just like the rest of us.

  • I didn't say anything was made up or that China was doing anything good. You put the phrase "made up" in quotes. Find it in my original comment if you're quoting me.

What I did say was that the US government is angling to steal China's propaganda apparatus to use for itself and pretending that it's protecting us.

    Read better.

  • it would be one thing if they were actually going to ban it, but the plan is pretty plainly for deep state establishment to seize it so that the US government can do all the awful things that they're accusing the Chinese government of doing. Remember y'all, the difference between information and propaganda is "Do I like the person who is currently speaking?" and nothing more.

  • “about 30 surety companies” have refused to accept assets

well yeah they're lending him money to pay off a court judgment against him for lying about what those assets are worth. I wouldn't lend someone money if their collateral was worth anywhere from 10%-1000% of what I lent them and there was no way for me to verify either. Besides, you know if he owes you money it's gonna be years and millions before you can recoup anything at all.

  • officially: data mining and algorithm manipulation to promote propaganda

unofficially: data mining that hasn't been approved by the US government and algorithm manipulation to promote propaganda that hasn't been approved by the US government

  • 1% made willingly by kids, without them being coerced by adults

the stickiest part of the wicket here is that if you carve out an exception for kids taking pictures of themselves, even if you make it still illegal but make the consequences less about punishment, millions of hideous fuckers will immediately begin probing for a way to manipulate kids into doing it themselves in a manner that doesn't technically break the law.
