The “mainstream” media has not been mainstream for years. News Paper replaced the town criers. Radio Replaced News Papers. TV replaced Radio. Internet replaces legacy media. Its just how this works. The future is not centralized. There will never be a time again where 3 broadcast networks are allowed to control the news. This is good
I got a promotion. There was no raise in salary just expectations of more responsibilities. I got a $100 visa gift card. I saw that as a big fuck you. I was out as soon as I could manage.
I feel like Universities are like spinning disks in a computer their time is not long for this world.
I don’t goto libraries for basic research. Sure libraries still server a purpose but I think covid taunt us we don’t need to shove a bunch of kids in a room to learn especially at the college level. Sure dedicated schools should still exist for doctors and engineers. But if you just want to learn about things we have the internet. Certifications / Bar exams could replace degrees for many professions.
As a software engineer my degree didn’t mean much after my first job. Hell when I moved to California I was 1 of two people on the entire team that had a degree. The other guy had an english degree. Most everyone was sell taught.
Just seems university schooling is wildly expensive for what we as a society get out of it. You have tons of people with degrees working minimum wage jobs unrelated to their field of study. They were sold a lie that if they got a degree regardless of what it was in they would make tons of money.
Most of the mess in the middle east was the British and the French taking random swaths of land after WW1 and say hey you guys that hate each other you are a country now figure it out.
I already live where I want to live. I would probably buy up all the open land in my county. Get my friends to move out and live on one of my properties. Fix up this 120 year old farm house. Install a pond and more water features to hold onto rain water. Probably run some electric fencing get solar power go off grid. Pretend to be a cattle rancher. Try to turn this homestead into my very own paradise. But i’ll probably employ a-lot of people create some jobs do more charity work.
If its line mortar replace it with lime mortar otherwise you will have a foundation failure down the line. The lime mortar is a sacrificial material. If you use normal cement, moisture will instead pass through the rocks and eventually those will fail. Old houses are all about sacrificing materials to maintain the bones of the house.
That's pretty bold take. So if we find out Biden murdered a bunch of people in 2009 its okay because it was before 2010. what kind of logic is that. You are basically saying Joe Biden's entire Senate career is not his responsibility since he was in the Senate from 1972-2009. Lets have some honest discourse here, bring up the full record of people that are alive its the only honest thing to do.
