  • Because he gave so few press conferences that people didn't know what a vegetable he was. The failure of his mental capacity over the last year or two was carefully hidden from the public by his administration.

The calls for him to step down are the calls for him to resign.

  • No, they don’t care if you were a thief outside. They care if you’re a thief inside.

I'm not talking about if someone steals from you in prison (not that it's justifiable to be violent because someone stole something from you in prison anyway).

The analogy here is getting robbed at some point and then beating up some other entirely random thief who never robbed you (who's already getting punished for their crime in prison). When a pedophile is put in prison, there are no children for them to victimize, they are being punished for the crime they committed. They are not trying to rape the adult prisoners, so those prisoners can't claim they were victimized by that person.

Prisoners are not fit to administer justice, they are there to serve for their own crimes and moral failings, not play at being judge and jury for fellow criminals.

  • Either way it's intellectually dishonest, hypocritical and inherently anti-justice.

If I get robbed by someone, and then later go to prison and find out some random prisoner is a thief, I'm not morally entitled to attack that person (who is already serving their time).

    Prison justice is 100% bullshit.

  • I'm not sure about dystopian stories, but I think the big appeal with post-apocalyptic and disaster stories is the fantasy of being able to start society over from scratch. To get a fresh start at a scale where the individual has a stronger influence on whatever group they're part of.

I think as real life society becomes more complicated, oppressive and individuals lose their sense of agency, those kinds of stories become more popular.

  • I hate people who make a big show of being "outraged" over child abuse as a way to cover for their own repugnant, violent beliefs and behaviors.

It's the same way some prisoner who murdered an entire family will beat or kill pedophiles in prison because he thinks he somehow redeems him on some level by having a "code". In reality he's still a massive piece of shit.

It's deeply self-serving exploitation of a very serious issue.

  • People need to flip House and Senate blue. Theres a better chance of that happening than Biden winning.

Even when Biden loses, it will be necessary to have a majority to keep Trump in check.

  • Not all his fault, but he definitely shares much of the blame, largely due to a lack of leadership on the topic.

What the president can do in those situations is focus the discussion, he has the highest pulpit of any politician, he should've been using it to move the frame of discussion and shift party strategy to make court reform a stronger pillar of the party platform. When the president says something it gives other party members permission to hammer on an idea.

Instead he lingered on his dusty, worthless notions of bipartisanship and "reaching across the aisle" and wasted all his political capital defending a genocide.

  • And even if he could, there's literally zero reason to think he would. This is more empty campaign rhetoric like back in 2020.

  • Yes, the results of the CNN poll have been born out by subsequent polling:

On Friday, an NPR/PBS News/Marist poll of 1,174 registered voters suggests Harris, considered the best-placed person to replace President Joe Biden as the Democrat's 2024 nominee should he drop out of the race, would narrowly beat Trump in November's election (50 percent to 49).

The poll was released one day after an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll of 2,431 adults found that Harris would beat Trump by three points overall (49 percent to 46) and among registered voters (49 percent to 47).

Vice President Kamala Harris could narrowly beat Donald Trump in November, according to a new national poll from a Democratic pollster.

Harris is ahead by 1 point in the poll by the firm Bendixen & Amandi Inc. She would edge out Trump 42%-41%. The survey showed 12% undecided and 3% support going to third-party candidates. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. She's within a percentage point of Trump in most polling, while Biden lags several points behind.

Combined that with Biden already losing the majority of swing states by multiple points: [Source]

Now stop hiding behind your ignorance like it's an argument and wasting everyone's time. The data we do have shows Harris having a chance at least, Biden is sure loss, there's literally no coherent argument againat replacing him when he is the single worst option.

  • I'm not advising anyone, I'm stating a simple fact; Biden is showing all the signs of losing because people don't like him and he's too old.

He is de-energizing the party. Him. Biden is.

  • I mean, someone quite literally did capture the bullet itself:

  • It would grow and behave like any other hair I think, just be movable.

You could use it to hold some snacks up there or something.

  • It's not about just getting people out to vote, people don't want to vote for Biden. This isn't apathy, they see him as unfit.

  • I'd have everything the same except there was one hair on my head that I could control like a tentacle.

  • The polling says otherwise. Your anecdotal evidence doesn't prove much.

Harris is polling better than Trump and Biden with independents, women and black voters, all the groups Biden is trying to get. Biden lost progressives because of his extreme stance on Gaza, which Harris distanced herself on.

Progressives are willing to compromise on Harris, no one is expecting Bernie Sanders to be the pick. Biden simply cannot win, he's behind by multiple points in the majority of swing states and has made no attempts to moderate his dealings with the far-right Israeli government.

Harris is the only viable option that has a chance.

  • Harris. Harris. Harris. Har-ris. Harris Harris. Harris.

Did you get it that time? Do people need to repeat it for you again? How many times will it take for you to acknowledge that you know who the other option is?

Do people need to say it in an accent for you? Or maybe spell it out in binary code? What will it take?

Edit: Looks like not acknowledged then. Jesus christ, it really is like talking to MAGA.

  • Nope, Biden is the problem. Full stop.

Uncomfortable maybe for people who've spent a lot of energy defending him, but he is the failure point.

  • He was elected because Democrats thought they could exploit his lack of support to force Clinton on everyone. They were wrong.

Trump's victory is more about Democratic strategic failure than anything else, they gave him the election.
