  • Beginning on June 20, 2025, individuals and businesses affected by everything from anti-competitive mergers to deceptive marketing practices like greenwashing can seek to enforce these provisions on behalf of themselves, and of others.

This is the important part. Starting from this Friday, individuals and businesses affected by the lawlessness of "too big to fail" companies will be able to make their own cases rather than waiting for the government to put together one.

There is a whole interview in there that seems good as well, but I haven't taken the time to read it yet.

  • Many songs if I like enough I figure out some of the words when looking for the title. Otherwise I remember them then forget them for a while. A couple famous examples I like:

Dschinghis Khan - Moskau, it's a bop, i know the melody but lyrics I only know parts of.

O-Zone - Dragostea Din Tea - this one of course I know front to back but I don't know what a single word means.

  • I totally understand that overreach makes hunting and recreational shooting activities a lot more difficult.

On the flipside, it means that assembly in Canada is peaceful by default without the constant threat of escalation into gun violence as can happen in the USA. It means that in our cities, 19 times out of 20 we only have to worry about pointy objects being potentially used as weapons by people walking down the street rather than guns.

The styling of firearms is just for show over safety I agree. But maintaining a culture of responsibly using firearms as a privilege of partaking in the sport, rather than as a right, is a distinction that gives us Canadians a better quality-of-life overall. There's far fewer grey areas in Canada as to where and what guns should be legally used for.

  • The best bike infrastructure in the GTA is no match for the stupidest drivers in the GTA.

On the other side of the country, here in Vancouver, a couple times a year you get a car that decides to turn into the separated bicycle lane.

  • Honestly inviting anyone over is motivation for me to clean. In my own space, there's stuff everywhere, but when someone's coming my standards for personal cleanliness and organization shoot up dramatically.

  • Once in a blue moon there will be a Reddit-style comment chain on Lemmy, I can tolerate it occasionally when the situation warrants it. When I left Reddit, I was getting tired of every top thread having at least one of the same joke template replies and I'm sure it hasn't gotten any better since.

Lemmy's issues are with leftist vs. liberal infighting I would say.

  • Some people are addicted to sugar to the point where every beverage must be sweet flavoured.

I have water, but othertimes I am sugar addicted so I want a different beverage.

Also I have had tap water in various places across Canada. Most are decent, some are especially delicious, some have awful after tastes and even smell weird (sulfur or chlorine). If that stuff runs to your home I can understand why people prefer bottled water, tea or soda instead of tap water.

  • (The answer is it just broke and there are a lot of newsworthy things happening today)

It was an almost inevitable succession to robbers cosplaying as ICE. If one is deemed normal, then extrajudicial killings where in the moment you believe it's illegal to defend yourself will be normalized too. If this is allowed to stand, or your president would pardon this kind of violence, your country is lost.
