  • If anyone else, like me, doesn't know what a 'live service game' is, this is the definition from the article:

The survey defines live services as any regular update cadence planned for a game.

The report notes that traditional game development is two-three years long, while live production is more than five years.

If anyone has a simpler and more succinct definition, please do share ❤️

  • Honestly haven't heard of this happening in Europe before, but also haven't done any research before now, and I don't read a lot of news.

Seems it's a surprisingly (for me, at least) big thing in the UK, but until recently was more associated with gang violence, with young men being the main victims, as opposed to the more classic "man has precious 'honor' and feelings hurt by woman, manly and honorable man scars woman for life so everyone can see how honorable he is"-scenario.

Worldwide, 80% of victims are still female.

It's worth noting that, according to these statistics, the second and third European countries on the list, France and Italy, have a combined 14 attacks, which is less than the 20 in USA.

If only the economic rift between the indigent and the insanely wealthy Americans wasn't so great, you'd all be able to afford guns, and not have to resort to these disgusting "European" tactics 😓

Maybe we should start a GoFundMe campaign? If it works for paying for healthcare, maybe it will work for getting everyone a gun?

  • I fail to see how this is news. A complete tragedy, and as others have mentioned, the mother will blame herself for the rest of her life. Move along.

On top of that — is this really the type of sources we should be posting from? The stories I managed to see on the front page, before the gagging became too much, seemed to be equal parts Megan & Harry, Trump, and Caitlyn Jenner. Pure tabloid trash. They don't deserve the traffic.

For the first time in quite a while, I'm sorely missing the ability to downvote.

Edit: Ahhh, here we go 🙄

I'm guessing we know where you work now, eh mate? Some lovely astroturfing 🤢👍

  • Same, used Opera religiously back in the day, so much more functional than the rest. Switched to Chrome (yes yes, I know) when it started going downhill.

Chrome still doesn't have the ability to set a shortcut for "switch to previous tab", have to use a plugin for that 🙄

  • There's so much waste everywhere, let alone in tech. Being able to both "recycle" old hardware, and find legitimate use for it, should be celebrated.

Now if only I knew what to do about my old phones ... I'm pretty good at making them last, so my older ones are very old, and I can't think of anything useful for them to do that whatever phone I currently have doesn't do much better 🤔

  • Google EOL'd my beloved Asus C302 Chromebook, and now it runs Fedora with KDE. I'm super happy with it ❤️

Now tentatively working on turning my 2009 Mac Mini into a Fedora server/homelab.

So far it's running Fedora desktop/KDE, and I'm slowly trying to figure out how to get Docker to work so I can run stuff like Audiobookshelf. If I manage to get it working, I'll try going full Fedora Server instead of the desktop version.

  • I think you must be unaware of the fact that Ylvis (consisting of Norwegian brothers Vegard and Bård Ylvisåker) is a comedy duo.

"The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)" was a musical sketch from their comedic Norwegian talkshow (Tonight with Ylvis, 2011–2016) that just happened to go viral. Very viral.

Seen in the proper context, The Fox is pure comedic genius. And it's a parody. Saying that it's 'cringe' negates the fact that it is meant to be 'cringe'.

Both brothers are talented musicians and songwriters, who just happened to have been led astray by the dark forces of comedy. It's happened before.

Don't believe me? Try some of their other songs:
