  • I'd throw in another vote for Heroic. I tend to use it for pretty much everything that I have that's not on Steam. It'll let you choose what version of wine/proton-GE/proton you need to get your games working.

You can sign into GOG inside the app and have access to your library. Same for Epic Games Store and Prime Gaming, as well as the storefronts (tho the Epic one isn't working for me rn, but the other two do). After signing in, you go into the library view and then it should list all the games it finds in your store libraries, then you can pick the one you want to download and install. It'll ask you where you want to install it, and then under 'Show Wine Settings' you can pick what version of Wine or Proton you want to use

  • about 1 month maybe to get back to full speed? I never really measured my typing speed before or right after switching so I don't really know. I think nowadays i can type faster in Dvorak than I ever could in QWERTY, but thats probably just from using it a lot and generally needing to type more nowadays lol.

  • I've been using Dvorak for maybe like 5 years now. There's like a 2 or 3 day period whenever you're learning a new keyboard layout in which you can't type at all lmao. QWERTY or Dvorak or whatever. Just takes a bit for your brain to adjust.

The interesting thing is tho, if I sit down at a computer I don't use every day and start typing, I can type QWERTY no problem, but if I ever have to type QWERTY on my personal computer (lookin at you RDP), its really hard.

I've been meaning to try out a Colemak layout, since it tries to keep a lot of the common computer shortcuts in the same place. (Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V on Dvorak are in kind of an odd place and its a pain if you ever need to use them 1 handed, like if you're holding a tablet pen)

  • man i was staring so hard at the community name and the source and hoping they would both change to "The Onion"

    This is just incredibly sad

  • adding on to Noise, if you do end up in a situation where you're considering buying refurbished enterprise hard disks, know that they are louder than normal consumer drives, esp if you have 4 of them running at once in a NAS

  • ah yes when you get to the station and the announcements say "the next train to so-and-so has been cancelled, sorry for the inconvenience" Always a fun day

  • Thats pretty cool. Using steam pistons to help compress the fuel enough for fusion, from which that heat gets used to make different steam to then make electricity.

  • Stop & Shop in the US does this (or at least it did? I never used it so I barely pay attention to it lol). There's like a wall of handheld scanners you can pick up when you enter and a little place on the cart for them to go in. You can scan and bag your stuff as you go and then pay at a special register.

  • if there's one thing I know, its a large pepperoni with extra cheese will fix me

  • I swear some companies design engines to just be put together once and that's it. Absolute nightmare to service.

  • could also be an Audi owner doing timing work on one of those engines with the timing chain at the back of the engine

  • I just noticed this on Newegg but when you load the page, it puts a search suggestion of something popular people are searching (today its MH Wilds) in the search bar. I guess the idea is that you can click on it to instantly search for that thing. The problem is, that it takes a beat to load in so by the time you click on the search bar to enter what you wanted, you've accidentally clicked the search suggestion and then are taken to those results, instead of being able to enter the thing you wanted to search for int he first place.

It takes over the right side of the search bar, but depending on the size of the browser window, that could end up taking the majority of the search bar's free space to click on.

  • whoa this program looks cool af

Definitely gonna play with this later

  • 8BitDo makes some good controllers, and at least I've never had any issues with my SN30 Pro+ first gen. Some of the older controllers needed special Windows/Mac software to update their firmware and stuff, but I think newer controllers let you put them in flashing mode, mount them as a USB device, and then just drag and drop firmware into them.

I also have a Gulikit KK2 that's been fine. Not a cheap controller, but I'd assume that anything they offer would work too. The Gulikit i've used in bluetooth mode on my laptop and it was fine, tho the 8bitdo i pretty much only use in wired mode. The 8BitDo is cool because it has a removable battery, but you also have the option of using AA batteries too, if you wish.
