  • I dont understand how your post has so many up votes when you said not a single specific thing. Can you explain any of the reasons you say China is obviously in a death spiral?

Is it just a feelings based thing from reading posts on here?

  • Normally cases and screen protectors aren't worth it but I have to say depending on the phone, adding some sort of ridge to the border of the screen can essentially keep it from cracking in almost all scenarios.

I do see a lot of worthless cases and wasted money though for sure.

  • I think its because a lot of people who are voting for biden are not answering polls.

I get messages about these polls daily now and its annoying AF. But I never answer them ever. I know a bunch of people my age in my community won't answer them either.

  • Honestly I think he won because he said he was going to not be a politician. People hate politicians and were happy to put someone in who was naive to all of it and who said he would fix all the corruption.

And then he went on to be a horrible human being on a day to day basis, usually via Twitter, was more corrupt than nearly anyone before him, and the only swamp he drained regularly was his own staff who he threw under the bus constantly.

I think he will lose this time because he already showed he won't do any of that. He hasnt even mentioned it this time has he.

  • Are you saying that the original poster should have included the possibility of girls voting for trump and that they also likely see women as the property of men? Id agree with that. Seems to be a subset of Americans that believe in tribal differences.

  • Randomized keypads are for touchscreens, although like you said sort of not common for desktop workstations.

Just comparing a password to biometrics though on say a laptop or desktop, there is the major drawnback that you can be forced either knowingly or unknowingly to put in a biometric to unlock a device. It would be easier to circumvent then a standard password (at my company and the clients we work with, 16 characters is standard) with an encrypted hard drive.

This is all deduction ive made from other things I know to be true though, if you happen to know of a resource that explains both methods of securing g a workstation and the risks associated, I'd love to read it.

I also do agree overall that password less makes the most sense now, as people are never going to get better at making secure passwords and remembering them.

  • I haven't based any of my voting decisions on speeches in a long time. I just dont think thats a good way to learn about someone and their policies. I usually look to recent actions, and definitely Biden is a mixed bag, but the Democratic party is a mixed bag as a whole right now.

I'm seeing a lot of people pointing at what they see is a problem, but then posit no better solutions. I also dont think its right to expect perfection or bust like some others seem to say.

I do think its interesting that there are so many different opinions on all of this stuff. I'm not sure entirely why the different perspectives exist, I know they are all valid at least. For me, I see steady progress about as quick as I think possible, for others they might see no progress or backsliding, and at different speeds.

For me the right time to have chosen someone else besides Biden was in 2020. And I will also admit that I personally would vote for Bernie Sanders if he were running for president but I'm not sure he would actually perform better than Biden in voting nationally. I'd like to think he would, but I know some older voters who would vote for Biden wouldn't vote for Bernie, so its hard to guess on.

  • I'm just saying that not everyone thinks the president is some god king of America, and that democrats lead as a party anyways so what would it matter if Biden turns into a senile puppet until he dies, to be replaced by the next democrat who will follow the exact same policies as Biden was.

It just doesnt seem very dire. "What if he can't keep a conversation soon!" Oh well, he can step down and kamala can take over.

Any democrat we replace Biden with for the election will have all the same issues with the same voter blocks. It seems like an over reaction both ways.

  • Well honestly I tried putting myself into this position mentally, to figure out how I might react. Would I refuse and take the punishment on principle? Do I think I'm strong enough to go through solitary for an extended period of time without permanent damage mentally?

The problem for me is that in that scenario I would feel that my punishment is prison, the loss of freedom, and that I was not sentenced to either slave labor or solitary confinement, both of which I consider immoral under any condition.

There is technically a choice, but that seems pointlessly reductive. I'd have to ask you if you feel like someone given the choice between losing their leg or arm would then be more responsible for the decision than the person who cut the limb off?

I think there is some distinction to be made between free action and reaction. If you are put in a position where you are forced to make a choice, then its not just the individuals fault for the choice they make.

  • I do understand the point that the biometrics are replacing very short pins usually, oftentimes 4 digits only but I dont quite see how that makes the passcodes worse than the biometrics.

I'd say even a 6 digit passcode with a randomized number pad, alongside an emergency wipe pin, would do better than biometrics, which also need to have a passcode setup as backup anyhow.

Maybe you could play out a few scenarios that illustrate your point?
