They're right though. There is no alternative because of the two party system. Obviously republicans aren't an alternative, so what else is there? It's a very frustrating situation that makes you lose any sort of faith of the future of the political system.
Why do you need telemetry when you can simply do UX studies, which Microsoft can and already does. I've even been part of a few. Microsoft is also moving away from Windows being their flagship product and is focusing more on office services and azure in terms of profit.
They all have phone numbers you can text and they don't need to install another app or sign up for anything at least. But I understand when they prefer it and you have a fb account anyways.
I think your mental place definitely could use a lot of improvement since this is a topic that's clearly bothering you. Still, this is very normal and you're not alone on that sadly. Just remember, upvotes/downvotes are not a decider of truth. You can be absolutely right and be downvoted to oblivion. It just determines how much you match the group think of that community. The approval of faceless nerds is irrelevant, espsecially on reddit-style forums like Lemmy where your votes are literally meaningless. It's more of an actual issue on something like twitter/tik tok/youtube/etc where your interactions are part of your personal brand.
