  • Not having fully functional Vulkan is going to make gaming on Linux a real pain. WINED3D (DX to OpenGL) works well enough nowadays, but DXVK and vkd3d-proton (DX to Vulkan) is where the real magic is.

With Vulkan, very low level programming is possible, which means translation layers and HLE emulators benefit a lot in terms of accuracy and speed.

I would strongly recommend upgrading your hardware if at all possible, not just because of performance, but because of up-to-date Vulkan driver support. AMD GPUs work best on Linux. Avoid Nvidia if you can, but if you literally can't get anything else, it will also work. Modern Intel should also be fine, but not as mature as AMD.

If you really want to run games on these computers, you will need to force enable WINED3D via an environment variable, either in Steam, or in whatever launcher you're using.

There is a fork of Proton designed specifically for old GPUs. I would use this if you absolutely cannot upgrade: https://github.com/pythonlover02/Proton-Sarek

  • And they were incorrect, unless they specifically supported him because of stuff like Project 2025, being massively corrupt, promising to give Elon power, bringing more devistation to Gaza, etc.

Also the democrats lost about 6 million votes, and Trump gained about 3 million vs 2020. That's 3 million prior voters who just decided voting wasn't worth it in just 4 years. How Trump gained those 3 million votes is beyond me, unless they never directly watched Trump speak in the entire campaign and only watched editorialized content, which is entirely possible, if not likely.

The media this past election cycle has proven to have an extreme conservative bias. The amount of sanewashing that occured with everything Trump said vs the extreme amount of scrutiny for everything Biden and Kamala said was disgusting to see. This includes all corporate media, including corporate-backed online media.

  • Compared to Trump's dimentia-ridden campaign, which was probably the worst political campaign in American history? Yeah, the Democrats' campaign was fucking perfect in comparison to talking about Arnold Palmer's cock, giving a microphone a blowjob, or saying Haitian migrants are eating cats and dogs.

Yes, both parties are corrupt, and yes, there is no party offering true change in a socialist direction. One party is literally fascist, and is clearly worse. I hate voting for the lesser of two evils, but this was the easiest election decision I've made in my entire life.

  • We get it. We live in a shitty, gerrymandered two party system thanks to FPTP and there is no true anti-war or anti-capitalist party. What's your point?

Saying "both sides bad" without mentioning one side being much, much worse is just being disingenuous. Not just that, but it attracts people on the worse side, who then will not accept criticism of their own side. Look at Jimmy Dore for a perfect example of this kind of audience capture.

In this example, you have Biden on one side, who was being complacent in a genocide while saying publicly that he wants a ceasefire deal, but not doing what was in his power to actually make it happen, like cutting off arms and funding to Israel. On the other side, you have Trump who wants to nuke Gaza and commit ethnic cleansing himself (I'm sorry, I meant to say "displace Palestinians") and rebuild it as a paradise in his image without Palestinians.

Let's just say Netanyahu publicly wanted Trump to win this past election, and there's a good reason why.

  • Says the person who didn't engage on the substance of my post, but instead is attempting an ad hominem attack while downvoting because you disagree. Sure sounds like you lost the argument here, bud.

Note how I didn't downvote you until you posted this, now that I understand that you are not arguing in good faith.

  • Upstream WINE enabled it by default in version 10, so I can't imagine Valve wanting to strip that out. Knowing Valve, they probably helped out a decent amount with that support.

The Wayland driver wasn't considered stable in version 9.

  • You're missing the point entirely. I'm saying the people I'm labeling as "good" don't have ASPD, whereas the "bad" people I listed do.

    https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/antisocial-personality-disorder/symptoms-causes/syc-20353928

Your definition involving legality does not match up to the medical definition of ASPD, which is defined by morality. I think you're getting confused because people with ASPD are often times also criminals, but the medical definition is not simply "a criminal."

From the link above: "Antisocial personality disorder, sometimes called sociopathy, is a mental health condition in which a person consistently shows no regard for right and wrong and ignores the rights and feelings of others. People with antisocial personality disorder tend to purposely make others angry or upset and manipulate or treat others harshly or with cruel indifference. They lack remorse or do not regret their behavior."

Now tell me how Harriet Tubman had ASPD given that definition.

Or if you prefer the DSM-5, it's on page 659: https://archive.org/details/APA-DSM-5/page/659/mode/1up

I think you're getting hung up on that first point (A1), but three or more of those criteria must apply to be able to diagnose ASPD.

  • I wouldn't recommend adding too much non-fatty liquids in a cookie dough if any, as that will result in gluten formation. For cookies, oil should be the sole source of moisture (or in the case of butter, mainly oil). Eggs don't really have the same effect as water-based liquids.

I've made cookies many times with vegetable oil instead of butter, and it works out very well.
