  • Quite the contrary. I had a good feeling about the principal of my sons new school, and he was part of the reason why we went for the school.

He didn't last another year there. First he was not seen for months, and now we know that he was convicted for possession of child porn.

Until then I generally had a feeling that I could assess people quite well. Now, that feeling is shattered.

  • So the ideal solution would be a 2-state+1-cage solution, where the cage is for Hamas and Netanyahu together with his Ultra Orthodox faction, where they can fight each other to death, while Israel and Palestine negotiate on a peace treaty.

  • To my knowledge the closest state to the 2 state solution was an offer to Arafat after the Camp David negotiations. He didn't take the offer, but I don't know why. But that was in 2000, before Hamas seized power in 2005. That was why I asked.

  • That’s part of lemmys problem.. there isn’t much else.

On Reddit I was following some fringe communities that still had between 3000 and 30000 users. The equivalent communities on Lemmy have 10s, if they exist at all.

  • Badly. Last week social media really dragged me down, including and especially Lemmy. Apparently social media is a way to foster extremism, and in selecting the platform you have some choice of what extremism you see. But it seems to be impossible to get away from extremism.

I’ll think I will fade it out and try to get into enjoyable things that I can do in my downtime.

  • Zionism became a thing when antisemitism was really bad.

Israel became a thing when antisemitism went over itself and even casual antisemites looked in horror at what Nazis had done.

The Palestinian problem today is nested within centuries of the problem of antisemitism, coiling around and biting itself in the tail.
