  • Time to rewatch Princess Mononokeā¤ļø

  • I'll be honest I don't really know that much about PP except that in my circles PP is known as being a real loon.

I'm just hoping that fellow Canadians consider voting for NDP then Liberals then the Quebec party rather than Conservatives because if there's fanaticism (rather than tolerance) around PP and the Conservatives there's a real chance that Canada could also join America and their sinking Titanic/ConcordiašŸ˜¬šŸ™ƒ

  • Nah. Even if the Snapstore backend were FOSS, you should still avoid Snaps because the way they implemented sandboxing subtly breaks many applications.

    Fair; that is true.

Not to mention, they dishonestly co-opt your apt install invocations to sneakily install the Snap version.

🤨 damn that's pretty crazy if true. Knowing Canonical this could be real, I'll have to look this up.

    Edit:
    Confirmed this is true

Apologies for linking to rdit, but yeah Canonical what's going on with you

  • I'd suggest posting this to any news community as it might not gain traction here in the technology community

    Edit:
Looks like I was wrong so feel free to ignore this comment.

  • I agree, the title is pretty useless.

Even something like "Fully charged a double A battery in 28 seconds" would've been useful/interesting.

  • ???????

PP is our version of Trump it seems
    jesus

  • Fair enough

Just on the off-hand chance you happen to find an Indian news site that seems to provide the highest ethical standards please feel free to message me whenever and I'll gladly send some traffic their wayšŸ‘

  • no worriesšŸ¤—

Same question as the other comment, do you know of any way to export posts/comments from a Lemmy instance? Trying to decide if I delete this account or just leave it as is.

Unfortunately as far as I know this isn't yet possible, someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Currently my suggestion is to create a 2-way-link via your profile:

Currently the Voyager app doesn't show profiles but your profile and links will show up on the Raccoon app
    Hope this somewhat helps!

  • an angy cutiešŸ˜†

  • Chromium really?

After the whole debacle of manifest v3 they're really choosing Chromium of all browsers to develop on?

Mozilla has made some controversial decisions but surely Firefox would be the better decision for the Linux and FOSS ecosystem.
    Even better why not Librewolf?

Seeing this news makes me sad as there are better options available and the Linux foundation chose the worst one out of all of them.

Ironically I also just saw this here on the fediverse: Google loses in court, faces trial for collecting data on users who opted out

  • Alongside the Phoronix commentors I'm also of the same opinion that implementing Canonical's defunct Snap package system is a waste of time and effort.

At this point, everyone with an understanding of the 3 primary containerized package types should know that Snaps in comparison to Flatpaks or AppImage packages should be avoided if possible.

If Canonical open-sourced their backend I believe that snaps would no longer cause such aversion and backlash from the community.

  • Is this site legit? Like what the heck are the bottom tabs like:

    Instant Loan

Increasing awareness of news like this is important however at the same time we need trustworthy sources that we can depend on and elements like the bottom tab isn't sparking any confidence for me

  • mine

also please give them plenty of pets for me!~šŸ¤—ā¤ļø

  • Hi me, the post-secondary you're planning on going to is trash, please consider getting better grades in highschool as getting a job is significantly harder than you think unfortunately and also switch to Linux faster than everyone else holy hell you'll come out better at the end

  • Public libraries

They are a literal treasure trove of information and resources if you know how to use them.

It's why I'm gonna donate to them once I can find or make a tech job/company

  • Here's a couple that I think are good so far:

    I'm recommending these based on:

    • threads blocked at minimum (fedipact being optimal)
    • good wholesome community activities and interactions
    • high number of trustworthy admins to provide you support and for content moderation (unless you like spam and zero-sum nonsense)
    • useful and cool local communities
    • my past exp with fellow moderators

Some will be more or less useful or interesting to you so honestly feel free to choose whichever you think fits best for youšŸ¤—
