  • Yeah taken as a guideline and observation that computer speeds/storage/etc continue to improve, I think it’s fair. It may not always be double, but it is still significantly different than other physical processes which have “stagnated” by a similar metric (like top speed on an average vehicle or miles per gallon).

  • The home you live in is not an investment if you aren't willing to downgrade

That’s not true at all. A house owned in an appreciating neighborhood or that is thoughtfully invested in (appropriate upgrades) can increase in value over time. Moving to a different neighborhood or selling and buying under different market conditions can allow regular people to realize real gains.

  • Hmm, I bought a prebuilt in 2019 and the most annoying thing about upgrading it was that it had a custom motherboard, power supply and the case wasn’t compatible with anything else. I read the thread but missed who your prebuilt was from, as that might have a lot of bearing on how customizable your system is as a platform.

  • That doesn't mean that everyone should support games being forced into having all genders, or races, or include trans people

The fuck are you talking about? No one is forcing anyone to “have all genders or races or include trans people”

    This you bro?

  • I assume my niece, who is 13, knows who Tom Hanks is.

So one of my “oh shit I’m old” moments, 10 years ago was a 19 year old friend of my neighbor who had no idea that the Jackson 5 were related to Michael Jackson. He thought they were “Michael Jackson and his 4 black friends”. So, check that assumption lol

  • yeah I mean you could say that first sentence about anything 😃 but also yeah it’s increasingly uslessly reductive (other than to divide endlessly) to talk about individual Americans that way, in my opinion. I wish we’d stop. I think Hannity has a vested interest in promoting the idea that americans line up into two neat camps.

  • I personally prefer the idea that democrats and republicans are elected party members and party officials and that voters are Americans, who can choose to support any of (or none of) these independent organizations. In the same way that I am not a Seattle Kraken.

(ETA: also, you can track a direct line of interest in treating politics like a team sport and what Hannity is trying to do, so literally as far away from that as you can get is what I’m talking about.)
