  • She is hated mostly by the traditionalists. She proposes decriminalisation (NB: not legalisation) of soft drugs and same-sex partnerships for LGBT. Some have become angry as much that I know people who put all the blame from their life into her party.

I would be happy if I could describe the detailed info but I don't want to break Rule 2 of this community and put Lemmy on fire.

  • I met Prime Minister of Economics and Innovation of Lithuania, Aušrinė Armonaitė, back in the days she was just a politician. She tries to be very tactical and friendly person (as most politicians do). Nevertheless, she is one of the most hated politicians right now, probably.

  • Ideally, I'd use a high-performance stationary computer as a workstation and a laptop as a terminal (for small work and SSH access).

However, it would by more expensive, not power-efficient, you would always need an internet connection for your laptop, a static IP address and you will need to handle power outages/unexpected shutdowns for your computer.

  • Certainly true. My point was that right now you and I, are using an electronic computing machine that is able to compute from billions to tens of billions instructions per second. In addition (if it was too weak for you), it also has another computing chip dedicated for parallel computing that is able to run TRILLIONS of parallel instructions per second (a.k.a. the GPU).

This is probably one reason why I like programming.

  • I don't dream much but I would like to live in a world where all the information published is free to modify and share (i.e. all the research data, hardware assembly instructions, firmware, microcode, software, books is copyleft). Intellectual property exists only as share-alike materials, you must publish the internals alongside with the end-user product (e.g. you can buy a CD, or download a content online). All the software is open-source, copyleft. Paywalls can only exist to cover infrastructure costs, you can still copy the content that is behind the paywall as long as you include the original author. This would break all the walled gardens of information.

    Also, no dictatorships.

  • Before my first job, I was expecting people raging and yelling at me (like Steve Jobs/Linus Torvalds or that insurance boss from The Incredibles movie) but I was welcomed by very friendly and curious people.
