I didn't authorize a random company to have access to a treasure trove of data about me so I have to lock everyone out. If data about me is being sold someone is making money off my private information. Ads can and do contain malware and consume extra data which I again never agreed to.
These are very basic arguments but I hope this helps.
Once upon a time internet explorer dominated the web. The web bowed and catered to the jank that was internet explorer...at least until other browsers gained traction. To this day there are some websites that are only designed with internet explorer in mind.
My office varies but what I do specifically is normal to get a bit noisy. Been heavily debating just keeping some ground coffee at my desk as even if it did get a bit stale it would be leagues better than the burnt coffee available in the lounge.
I think it's funny that Google is pushing something that only really benefits them directly and harms literally everyone else. At this point I put adblocking up there with antivirus in terms of importance.
If you want to automate look into the "Wikiarr" but to answer your question I think many of us are just data hoarders. I try to delete stuff I've watched but I also tend to keep stuff that I've had trouble finding good versions of. I am also building a large music library (currently around 200-250gb) and that's entirely around avoiding crappy streaming services. Most of this collection I either already owned (used to rip ipods id repair for people) or used soulseek/other tools to build.
Personally I'd replace that 10 year old drive as it's probably limited on remaining life even if only lightly used.
Yeah I wasn't thrilled when I heard the news. I have one maybe two domains with Google and I'm going to be shipped off to somw third party for my renewal. I haven't checked but I'm pretty sure the domain business is being sold to one of those "build your website with us in half an hour" companies and I just cannot wait for the go-daddy like service...which I left go-daddy because of.
If you're on Android, Joey appears to still be working fine. It has been getting slower since the API drama but it appears to still be fully functional.
I'll admit that it doesn't have the best search feature though.
TBF sly and the gang worked for themselves with their own interests.
