As far as the Dr. Phil stuff, you're describing a typical Lemmy user. Of course I'm male, only had about 98% odds with that one. Am I lonely? Occasionally, but less than most. Not that there's anything wrong with being lonely, which is a very common emotion even among popular people. Subconscious feelings of inadequacy are references to psychoanalytic concepts that have long since been debunked. Dehumanizing? Quite the opposite. I'm trying to persuade the online masses to free themselves from the automated thought process of ideology.

There's a plethora of contradictions. Americans hate for-profit healthcare, inequality, and CEOs, but love to vote Republican and worship Elon Musk. The sad reality is the people did this to themselves and will keep doing it to themselves.

Except I am careful with this. It would be a valid criticism if the opinion I don't like wasn't "lol at rational lib". That is fairly described as an NPC opinion, unless you care to help justify it as something deeper. Rationality is not concession, bad opinions should be called out as such. And by the way, it's not just people I disagree with - after all, this whole thread is me criticizing people who agree with me that billionaire wealth is out of control for choosing shitty argument tactics.

And if there was a disagreement about whose property was who's? With no laws to settle it, it would just be determined by who grabs said property and runs off with it first. That's indistinguishable from a free-for-all.

And let's not forget that any soil near a road had a ton of lead released nearby throughout much of the last century, and that just stays there. As well as lead paint chips from buildings.

Eh it'll be two years before he loses control of congress, and he's also very, very stupid to the point where he will have a hard time accomplishing his worst ideas. Of course there will be lots of bad decisions and people dying of those bad decisions, but that's just what we call America.

Such a normie reaction. I just wanna differentiate myself from all the NPCs who have let ideology replace their reasoning capabilities, as well as "rational centrists" who consider conceding to irrational Republican arguments to be a form of rationalty. If I've said something irrational, you can feel free to call me out on it. My username is an invitation to do just that.

If paying a CEO $200k more makes the charity $2 million more, it's a no-brainer. Billionaires love to give to animal-related causes, so that's easily plausible.

In reality of course, predicting the amounts of money a CEO will bring in is virtually impossible, so it becomes a nepo-baby-fest like everything else. People with rich connections are in high demand at pretty much every entity that has a need to raise money, so they cost a lot.

Then of course you have the problem that in the wider scope, this reality creates an arms-race between charities for fundraising potential that diverts from the causes themselves. The only real solution to that problem is to punish charities that pay their officers too much by not giving them money.

These kinds of memes only exist to prove how edgy people are but they don’t accomplish anything. Saying “I’m so hardcore I even hate the billionaires people like” doesn’t do anything other than push people away from whatever movement you claim to support.

So true. Learn from the edgy George Floyd protests and the Palestine protests, which at best accomplished nothing and more likely played a key role in cutting off formerly-rising popular support for the causes they were advocating. Being edgy feels good to the person doing it, but it makes everyone else say "fuck that guy and whatever they're in favor of." Be smart not angry.

These meme would be far more effective if it didn't have the bottom picture at all.

If the law said my car is no longer my property, then driving away with it would cease to be stealing, correct. What is property without legal, government-backed title? There's no way to formulate a definition, because without government and laws property has no meaning.

All property is a social construct and is defined by law. So if the law says debt is no longer valid, then the loan agreements cease to be property and there is no stealing it.

The only thing worse than big corporations owning the government is big corporations and con artists sharing ownership in the government.

Killing a CEO is still doing nothing about the deaths caused by the insurance industry. How would it save lives of people harmed by privatized healthcare? If anything, it makes that anti-private-healthcare crowd look like a bunch of murderous zealots and will drive away any sympathy, making the problem worse. See: effect on indian raids on views of Native American rights, effect of Hamas attacks on views regarding Palestine, etc.

This is more like you let the train go and kill 5 people, or you pull the lever and kill one person, but that track loops back around onto the same track and kills the 5 people anyway, and then keeps going and kills 5 more people just tied on the part of the track the train already passed.

Let's be real, many would pull the lever anyway because they just want to feel like they did something about it.

Gosh it's almost as if murder is a bad way to win hearts and minds outside of edgelord social media bubbles.

Give me a specific example of how violence worked for any of these. I'm not sure what you're referring to with OG rednecks, but the IRA (as of 1997) abandoned violence because it failed to reach their goals and just angered the people they were supposed to be fighting for. EZLN only took up armed rebellion for a brief moment and never really tried to engage in battle, focusining on peaceful activity since the mid-90s.

The problem there is that the ones being targeted make a ton of money for what they're doing, and can avoid this sort of problem by just being a little more careful. Meanwhile, there's not that many people willing to risk prison and death to express their disdain for corporate healthcare.
