  • Somebody get Adam Savage, Jamie Hyneman and a very sensitive set of scales…

  • I’d often type out a comment on the other site and the. I’d decide not to post it purely because I knew that I’d be flamed for daring to have an opinion of my own.

I disagreed with someone once (politely) over something extremely minor and got told to go die in a fire. So why would I post just to get shit like that?

Here though things do seem nicer and I really hope things stay that way. My fear is that with any large number of people you’re going to get those arse-hats who ruin it for others, but maybe they’ll stay on Reddit where they can act like wankers together.

  • Yep. Not perfect but much much better than it was.

  • Ah I coveted the Neo Geo. I would gaze longingly at screenshots in CVG magazine and dream of having one.

Now I have a multicart for my Jamma cab and I can play pretty much any Neo Geo game I want. Turns out, apart from Viewpoint, metal slug and a few others I tend to prefer other systems.

  • I have things scattered around different machines (a hangover from my previous network configuration that was running off two separate routers) so I’d probably look to have everything on one machine.

Also I kind of rushed setting up my Dell server and I never really paid any attention to how it was set up for RAID. I also currently have everything running on separate VMs rather than in containers.

I may at some point copy the important stuff off my server and set it up from scratch.

I may also move from using a load balancer to manage incoming connections to doing it via Cloudflare Tunnels.

The thing is there’s always something to tinker with and I’ve learnt a lot building my little home lab. There’s always something new to play around with and learn.

Is my setup optimal? Hell no. Does it work? Yep. 🙂

  • I’m wondering if I’m missing something. Threads is predominantly a Twitter clone so would we expect to see content from Threads on Lemmy? Would it not be more likely to see Threads stuff on Mastodon?

  • It’s never too late to make a change. Be the you that you want to be but don’t judge your worth against other people’s achievements.

Set a goal for yourself. Learn Japanese, release an app, cure cancer, whatever you want and aim for it on your terms. But be realistic and if needs be set a small goal first and work your way up.

    Edit. Typo

  • Pretty sure the lenses cost extra. I heard somewhere in the region of $800 I think but I could be misremembering

  • Reminds me of the Committee for the Liberation and Integration of Terrifying Organisms and their Rehabilitation In to Society

  • I mean anything beginning with I really but sausage is always good. 😀

  • Needs some Italian sausage 😜

  • One of the very first lines of code I ever wrote was:

    10 FOR a = 1 TO 70

In Spectrum Basic. I do tend to use I these days, I’ve calmed down since my childhood days 😀

  • I suspect it was permissions. I don’t recall Lemmy ever asking for access to my photos previously but yeah all seems ok now.

  • Deleting the app and reinstalling seems to have fixed it.

  • Unfortunately nothing happens when I tap the icon

  • Nice update but a few things I'm noticing.

Firstly, am I imagining things or did Memmy previously have swipe left / right interactions for upvote / downvote and reply, as these don't seem to be working for me.

Edit: ah it seems to work for comments but not posts?

Also, I'm seeing odd behaviour in the following user journey:

I opened the app and was in the Feed tab, and decided I wanted to view posts on the Memmy community, so I opened the Profile tab, and navigated to the the subscriptions page, and clicked on Memmy. I then clicked on the post I wanted to view (this User feedback thread) and nothing happened. However, when I navigated back to the Feed tab the post was open there.

That seems like strange UX to me and I'm not sure it's be design. Also, because there was apparently nothing happening whenI clicked on the post in the subscriptions tab I clicked it a few times, and this opened a whole bunch of the same post in the Feed tab so navigating back I had to work through the open instances to actually get back to the feed.

I hope I'm explaining that clearly.

Edit: I see the second issue I raised has already been mentioned in another post, apologies.
