Exactly people really dont care about privacy nowadays , even calling us thin foil thats. Just look at the republican states asking Facebook to share messages about abortion with a mom and her daughter.

I dont install aps from the play store , and what's wrong with wanting to not see ads or my data with Google? The less data they can have from me , the less the ads are relevant, the less likely to work in me.

I believe that every android phone has a unique advertising ID and the app match it in order to serve you ads based on you also Amazon Ads are here.

Every company in the world will comply with local laws. What you can do its use Tor to access it so your IP address its safe. Send emails only inside the Proton Network so its end to end encrypted. Use a strong and a Yubikey to access it. But even with all of this if you are doing something highly illegal they will catch you. So understand this there no service in the world that will protect you.

Oh yeah I just read about cloudfare strict but I think thats only if you proxied the request through cloudfare servers , if you just point the domain to the server I dont think you need to do that.

What is a $3 domain? I really wanted to buy one like that cheap. Why change cloudfare to strict?

Its not always on the latest but its being really stable for me. I think they tested really throughly so thats why the updates are delayed but it just works.

You can use a manage switch which will cost you around $30 in Amazon. Buy Netgear or TP-Link

Good advice or also just host your own instance will be a great way and its very simple to do that I feel anyone with some technical knowledge can do it by using Yunohost.

1. Buy a domain using namecheap or cloudfare.
2. Rent a VPS on Linode, Vultr , Digital Ocean or Hetzner
3. Install Yunohost from the official website and be sure to install Debian 11 and not Ubuntu thats the one recommended by Yunohost developers.
4. Once Yunohost is installed , set it up , add your domain , add a DNS record to point to the the server public IP.
5. Now just installed Lemmy app from the Yunohost app store and thats it now you have your own lemmy instance.
