Was an AVP in a bank moved to a different company to work as a software consultant with a 10% hike. I would be earning more than what I'm earning if I had stayed, but I'm happy now.

The company I worked for had installed software that tracks keyboard and mouse movements, it considers I'm idle if I don't touch them for 180 seconds. Sometimes I lose more than 50% of the time because of attending meetings, it would report I was unproductive.

It always gave me a feeling like someone constantly standing behind my back and watching.

I usually work fast and complete things well in advance and spend time in the thought process of solving problems and enhancing existing process. Though I delivered more than what was expected from me, I was feeling insecure by someone gauging my performance by the amount of time I spent on computers.

Is there a guide to set up an oracle cloud that points to my home server?

I guess I can set up multiple subdomains to access multiple services that are running on my homeserver with different ports.

Perspective from India:

28% GST for spare parts of electric vehicles and the companies play monopoly by raising the price of the spare parts by 5x to 10x.

If we don't use original parts sold by them and do maintenance outside the vehicle will not be covered under warranty.

There were many fire accidents due to the hot climate, which requires the warranty in place.

It's kind of a nightmare to own an electric vehicle in India.

It's good for someone who drives for more than 50km in a day. They can save on fuel, which will be higher than all other costs. The fossil fuel is 10x higher covering the same distance in an electric vehicle.

Bringing a used laptop will not be an issue. I have asked my friends to buy a new mobile phone and brought it to India with 0 customs tax. But check if they are okay to carry 1kg as she may plan to carry full luggage limit.

But, spend a little more and buy a better one. $30 is what 3% of the air ticket price?

All my phones were bootloader unlocked before within the 15 days of purchase date. Never bothered about warranty. It is always custom ROMs.

A watch, when I was 15.

I had a Redmi phone made by Xiaomi. They conducted a giveaway on Twitter and I won it. I was shocked by seeing it, as it was the first time I won anything.

Received the same model phone in a month time. I gave it to my sister.

My phone was stolen after 2 months. So I felt like if you don't spend money and "earn" something, it will leave you soon.

We need to see the trend from 2019 to till date. There was a pressure to buy phones & tablets to attend online classes during covid. Almost every house would have an extra mobile phone, there is no surprise the sales decline.

Also the OEMs increase the phone price every year, it could be another reason.

A perspective from India. 20+ years ago before ATMs were implemented, the bank officials treated each customer differently. A worker with dirty clothes would be treated poorly than a person who wears a tuck-in shirt.

Situation now: ATMs don't know who is rich and who is poor. All people are equal.

When the covid hit in 2020, most schools opted for online classes. People from India bought lot of phones as cost is way less compared to laptop or tablet. So the 2020 is peak.

If we have data prior to 2020, we can see the 2020 is an outlier.
