  • Stop with the doomerism.
"Lemmy is losing users" -> Lemmy has a stabilizing base of communities developing their own culture after a great exodus from several centralized platforms. Original, high quality content is finding its home here as users engage with one another on thousands of federated, interoperable, transparent websites.

  • When I mean “specific,” I mean things like something dedicated to a certain genre, a certain video game, to gaming suggestions, to asking whether you should buy a certain game… anything that isn’t just one catch-all for any video gaming topic. So I’m not including the various !games@instance or !gaming@instance links.

I know about the following and will be adding to this list with links people comment with:

  • Ya, this is stuff we already know, isn't it? Like, it's just common knowledge

  • "According to a report published by popular research companies"

I'd like to know to whom "popular research companies" refers, and by what means they're measuring "losing 30% of users".

  • Ultimately though, does this matter? The smartphone userbase in China and India are a combined 6 times the size of the USA's and are growing. Furthermore, the USA imports most of their tech from China, while China keeps their wealth largely internal. Even if the USA were to completely cutoff trade with China, it's not like China's doing nearly as much importing of manufactured goods, especially in the low-end, and it's not as though China would be at a loss for trade partners even if every US ally followed suit.

Cutting off trade to China, at least by what I can tell, would hurt the USA far more than China, or am I wrong?

  • "Well, it turns out it's not true BUT THE FACT I'D BELIEVE IT REALLY SAYS SOMETHING"

  • I did edit it out, I didn't realize they'd deadnamed her and while I'm fine with relaying drivel, I'm not fine with perpetuating deadnaming

  • Good. Free trial is continuing to be all but the 3 latest expansions, and is expanding with the next expac launch. It'd be nice if I could switch my account to limited-access so I can do free trial content on my main even if my sub lapses, though.

But them being driven by subscriptions has helped them keep the game focused on player enjoyment. I hope it never goes F2P q-q

  • You literally don't know what "Net Neutrality" means, and I don't have the energy to explain it when you're obviously not the type to listen.

  • Ted Cruz reminds me of a lot of people, but I hate him more than any of them.

  • Don't care

  • No, Canada has a very different tax system than the USA, and everywhere else doesn't have this problem.

  • It's too funny, I can't stop laughing at it.

  • Yes, US copyright law requires human involvement to grant authorship. AI generated works are not eligible for copyright and it's unlikely to change unless copyright legislation goes through to yet further restrict copyright.

    • Majora's Mask: a 3-day timeloop where everything resets when you go back
    • Katamari: A giant ball gets rolled around and collects stuff forever
    • Baba Is You: Movable text is rules to the game
    • Untitled Goose Game: You have to piss people off the right way
    • Billie Bust Up[unreleased]: Musicals tell you upcoming platforming challenges
    • Celeste: every time you die you quickly reset on the same "page"/small tile of map
    • Splatoon: you shoot at the ground to go faster, hide, and/or win
    • Odama: real-time tactical wargame pinball
    • Golf Story: Golf-based fetch quests
    • Astral Chain: asynchronously control a companion in combat
    • Okami: paint skills on-screen in combat
    • Astro Bears: Snake but in 3D
    • Lovers In A Dangerous Spacetime: Up to 4 players pilot parts of a ship together
    • Pokemon Ranger: draw circles around monsters to catch them
    • Viva Pinata: breed pinatas to create new species
    • Spore: create and evolve a creature
  • Then that can be decided by psychologists. It's funny you keep insisting on calling it "CG porn" though when it's abjectly and legally child pornography.

  • A lot of people here really defending child pornography
