  • Does this invalidate the subject upon which they're reporting, i.e. does this invalidate Neve Gordon's opinion that Israel's painting Palestinians as animals to justify their warcrimes?

  • As long as it's optional, I think it's great. It lets me play smash bros with friends who do tournaments. It lets me play, too, with literal children who are gonna have a hard time doing much of anything.

  • There is little evidence that Israel, like Hamas, “intends” to destroy an ethnic group—the Palestinians

This particular line I keep seeing parroted. Yes, Hamas has said they wish to eradicate an ethnic group. Yes, that is egregious. No, that does not mean their rebellion against the occupying, more powerful force, is a genocide.

Beyond that, Israel has said "we are fighting against animals", painting Palestinians as inhuman to legitimize their warcrimes. While one may argue that they were just talking about Hamas, it's obvious that Hamas is composed of Palestinians, and while not elected by the Palestinians of today, represent them.

But to my initial point, the occupying force, physically erasing a people and systemically erasing their culture and ability to congregate and form community is genocide. Regardless of Hamas. They have the means, and they are enacting that means.

  • uTorrent doesn't play well in the landscape of the modern bittorrent protocol. It's also adware, infringes upon your privacy, and is a malware risk.

qBittorrent is my client of choice, but other popular and great clients are Deluge (only up to ~500 torrents), transmission, and rtorrent (on Linux). There's other clients as well but YMMV, especially if you do any private tracker usage.

  • An entire department that's never had someone in it who's not complicit in a serial killing conspiracy. Given the history of Jackson Mississippi, I'd bet money that the victims are majority black as well.

  • The bot's actually not AI powered, but uses Sumy to algorithmically create a summary.

  • Yes, hyperbole is non-falsefiable. It's a rhetorical device, not a claim unto itself. In this instance it's a rhetorical device being used to communicate the idea that, were this Nintendo, they'd be receiving rightful backlash, but people, like you, online will give a pass due to the sheer fact that it's Valve doing the takedown.

  • to me, this is clearly an example of incorrectly getting mad about something and then shifting the goalposts to not have to take the L.

    Or it's hyperbole.

  • The last time you're referring to was Valve directly distributing the project in question. That is not the reality here, nor is there any implication that Valve allows it. If Valve never issued this takedown, there'd be no reason to even believe Valve knew of this infringement nor that they were so intimately familiar with it to know Nintendo's IP was also being infringed upon.

  • This is just a corporate passing of the buck. There’s no reason to believe a third party infringing upon the properties of two parties would give the latter parties any ability or risk of going after one another.

This project was not on steam and as such was not distributed by nor associated with Valve in any way beyond infringement of IP and use of their assets. Let's not give Valve a pass just because they can lazily and baselessly say "um nintendo!" about it.

  • Valve about to become as litigious as Nintendo with IP they've let rot.

  • So far, my list is looking like:

    Sasaki and Peeps
    Tis Time For "Torture," Princess
    Delicious in Dungeon
    Solo Leveling
    Gushing Over Magical Girls
    Mr Villain's Day Off
    7th Time Loop
The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic
My Instant Death Ability Is Overpowered
    Fluffy Paradise

I'll probably also watch, at the minimum:

Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp
    Metallic Rouge
    Urusei Yatsura S2
    The Unwanted Undead Adventurer
    Tales of Wedding Rings
    A Sign of Affection
The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil
Mashle: Magic and Muscles (just need to finish S1 first)

  • Oh ya, this was amazing tbh. It just kept climbing with all the elements it threw in. In particular, I love the idea of there being two "magic" systems that operate independently in fundamentally distinct ways.

  • What makes you so confident? It's not as though the internet's "fine" right now compared to where it was 20 years ago.

EDIT: I see your entire personality is hating Mozilla, and apparently that means people can't hate Chrome too. Gonna just block this google shill.

  • Nobody's stopping you. Just saying it's either ignorant or stupid to, and actively makes the internet a worse place.

  • Damn this article's garbage, filled with ahistorical bs, and remains completely ignorant of the reality of conservatism, both new and old. Trumpism's not a misstep for the movement. It's the logical continuation of it.

  • "Cult Apple haters" is a goofy phrase and doesn't exist. Maybe people who swear off / boycott Apple, but a cult? Goofy.

  • I don’t understand why so many folks aren’t worried about another superpower replacing the US’s slowly waning stranglehold

Can't speak for others, but personally I simply find them both worrying. The Chinese and US states are both foreign powers that wish to track everything I do and use it to control me in the future.

Look at all the fucked up shit the US has done around the world, and that’s with a quasi-democratic government that at least has a modicum of domestic and international accountability

Which US-led, US-backed agencies are you referring to as delivering accountability for the US? The ones they have veto power in too?

Not trying to "both are equally bad". China's output of political violence is ostensibly worse, but you seem to be dismissing the legitimate concern that the source for this is the US regime, whose political interest is for us to point fingers at China as they continue working behind our backs.

We know to be cautious of China, yet any time someone brings up "we should be cautious of the US too", the response is "China's worse", deflecting from the real threat that the US presents globally.

Preferably, I'd like to see all these superpowers overthrown, the states broken up, and a union a la the EU to form with more global pursuits, or the EU itself to expand beyond European borders, while continuing to be genuinely voluntary while also being both politically and economically beneficial for all member-states.

  • How is this different from just sponsoring them through the normal immigration system? Is the process being expedited or something? Genuine question.
