  • Putin says a lot of things. I'll wait for someone with more veracity than a cop to say anything before even considering investigating this.

  • 12/20, most of my mistakes were in saying human-made work was AI generated.

  • It's crazy that over the last decades, conservatives have fought tooth and nail against any foreign aid or immigration under the false assertion that "we need to take care of our own", meanwhile any time they have any freedom to do so, they decidedly "take care of our own" less and less.

And yet Doug Ford has a majority in Ontario, Tim Houston has a majority in Nova Scotia, Danielle Smith has a majority in Alberta, Scott Moe has a majority in Saskatchewan, and Bill Oliver has a majority in New Brunswick.

Who's voting for these troglodytes? Who's looking at the options of "a better future for real people, or a worse future for real people" and choosing the latter? Surely it's not all just in the name of bad memes and "owning the libs"... right?

  • X, the Formerly Known As Twitter App
Blaze your Tweets/Xs or whatever they're called

  • Research in Motion (RIM) was renamed to BlackBerry Limited in 2013.

  • To be fair, Tetris had a really interesting story, and was about the real-life licensing issues that arose as a result. That said, the film's storytelling pales in comparison to the more accurate gaming historian video on the same stuff.

Barbie also had a grounded, introspective view of its product, and was actually quite critical of Barbie. Though this one ends up being more effective as a commercial, it also had a lot of good social commentary on our society, and on the impacts of the ideals of sexism on both men and women alike.

The rest were definitely just sucking off their respective brands though.

  • I'm fairly sure they were being sarcastic ^^

  • That's so arch linux user of them lmao

  • I feel some kinship with my instance just because it's a niche fandom-based instance, but I wouldn't hesitate to jump away should there be reason to. In the last few months I jumped from .ml to .ca when redditors started coming here, then from .ca to here a couple weeks ago.

If I moved, it'd have to be to another small, niche interest instance like this. I have an account over on retrolemmy.com for a couple of the communities I made, so maybe I'd set up shop there, depending on what their apparent federation/defederation stances were.

  • Do any of them brand it as new software

    Yes.

  • It's pathetic to brand it as a brand new software you made yourself. I'm not gonna budge on that lol

  • Oh no doubt. I didn't know Gab was mastodon though, that's interesting. It's pathetic how these conservative products launch as "a new social media network for conservatives", and it's actually... just Mastodon. Gab even moreso since it ended up relaunching as Mastodon later.

  • Yep, their internal debates very furiously seem to be about how to get the most political points, and not how to benefit the people. The liberals do the same, but at least their leadership has some principles.

  • I personally use Obtainium, since I've found updating apps on F-Droid's not a very good experience.

  • My perspective is that security breaches of companies are a guaranteed inevitability. What information we give them will end up in the hands of someone we don't want to have access to it.

  • Okay? And currently people pay with donations. The suggestion from SkyNTP was, in the most condescending what, what would you do if it became a paid-subscription. Paying with your time or on donation are acceptable. Paying as a part of a subscription is not for me, and I imagine many in the FOSS-oriented fediverse.

  • You can set up a Lemmy instance with just a docker file lmao it's not exactly a large scale operation to upkeep.
If somehow every Lemmy instance went paid only, I'd host my own instance and invite my friends to use it too.

  • I wonder, if their user activity dropped enough, would they try opening up to federation?

  • How do you block ads in the Google Play Store app?
