With archive.org under threat some of it will be gone for good unfortunately. Save what you can when you can it might not be there later.

You can get some decent stuff for not much. Unfortunately harbor freight isn't what it used to be but its still OK for basic hand tools. Major stuff I'd rent. I threw all my stuff in a duffel bag when I lived in an apartment and it worked decent but digging for tools sucked lol.

Would be cool if there were groups for it to get people started off and save a little money without buying anything

You have a choice of where you go and what you do, if you dislike something then don't go there. I never used 4chan or similar and ignoring it is easy for me you just have to stop caring so much

Welcome to chatrooms, they were always like this its just a lost phenomenon to most people especially those that didn't grow up with them. Ignore and move on is pretty standard practice, I'm on slskd and I've only gotten DMs not sure if it even has the chat enabled by default

Yep these are a great starter I got one about a month ago for $70 with everything included to go alongside my NUC and its been fantastic with proxmox running LXC containers

Flawless on my thinkpad T480, occasionaly some issues on my gaming PC usually nvidia drivers post update but not as much lately

Agreed honestly the only ones I really run into nowadays are Safari issues

Have you tried lately? I do specifically remember them requiring it however the most recent one I made did not ask and it gave me a somewhat randomly generated email address. No recovery email or anything like that either could be a requirement if you're on TOR or something though still maybe difficult to say when they require it

Yeah it's a tough one, I'm honestly shocked it's THAT difficult to do without Google or some shady app. I really wish these devices at least did HDMI out

I tried for a bit and gave up on this. Seemed like you needed Google home and some permissions I wasn't willing to grant to Google.

Currently using scrcpy over wifi on a laptop with HDMI when I need to cast to the TV. It's reliable but it's not ideal still
