  • I would let him know that he has a tell, yeah. As for whether or not rolls should get fudged, I guess it depends on what you're trying to get out of the game. For me and my players, my emphasis is on the continuity of the story I'm telling, so I tend to fudge rolls to keep things moving along.

  • Y’all don’t want to hear this but the appeal is going nowhere. Antitrust in the US requires consolidation to harm consumer choice, and with the agreements Microsoft has committed to that’s not provable. The EU has much stricter rules about this stuff than the US and even they cleared the acquisition. This has more to do with the administration’s tech-regulation initiative needing to show some proof-of-life than anything with a chance of actually preventing a merger. Feel free to downvote me to oblivion if it makes you feel better.

  • NATO Astronaut 1: It never gets old, huh?

    NATO Astronaut 2: Nope.

Astronaut 1: It kinda makes you want to...

Astronaut 2: Break into a song?

    Astronaut 1: Yep.

    I love the trenches,

    I love the roadside mines,

    I love blown bridges,

    I love when turrets fly.

    I love the whole world

And all its sights and sounds.

    Boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da (twice)

    I love my plane-fus,

    I love nuke submarines,

    I love logistics,

    I love democracy!

    I love the whole world

    And all its craziness

    Boom-de-yah-da, boom-de-yah-da (twice)

    I love dictators

(I like to watch em hang)

    I love Three Gorges

I love when things go bang!

    I love the whole world

    It's such a brilliant place

    Boom-de-ah-da, boom-de-ah-da (repeating until fade)

  • Yeah, as a member of the latter group, the game just ended up not being for me. That's okay, clearly plenty of people found what they were looking for there. But I do hope they release an "endless" mode where I can go ham on the core gameplay which I really enjoyed.

  • The lemmy.world admins have full control over all the instance’s data, including the accounts of everyone using the instance. They seem like nice people, but there’s no real way to enforce the conditions you’re proposing.

  • Getting into the habit of breaking your dreams into actionable steps and then performing those steps is the single most important skill you can learn in life. What can you do today to achieve your dream? What will you do tomorrow? One day you will stumble across something that truly captures your interest, and when you do all the practice you put in now turning your dreams into things you can do will come in handy. Dream big, but don’t stop at dreaming. Learn as much as you can about everything you might need. Your YouTube career might not make it, but any skills you pick up in video production and SEO might be helpful down the line. If your dream changes tomorrow but you learned a skill today, then it wasn’t a waste.

  • Thanks for the response. To be honest, that seems a bit misguided. Seems like it adds a fair bit of complexity and performance issues in exchange for a relatively marginal benefit(hiding an IP that’s probably dynamic from a server the user chose to visit anyways).

For an example !dnd@lemmy.world has a different set of stickied posts when visiting through lemmy.world versus this instance. It’s clearly a day or so out of date.
