  • Humans may be made irrelevant in places, but you can't say they're bad at (broadly) recognizing patterns

  • A fitting name for a beautiful outcome.

I wish them bountiful data transfers without Telco trashiness.

  • Hey pot? I got kettle on the line here, it's for you

  • If all goes well, the IRS should be able to do a simple tax prep service for most Americans for free next year 🤞🤞

It's really freaking stupid that Intuit has commandeered the tax prep market for almost 3 decades now

  • I'm...mixed on situations like these

Like yeah, it's very annoying having to manually refresh for more content, but at the same time I do appreciate having more time to fully explore my timeline instead of coming back from a post to see they completely discarded my reading place, losing whatever is was looking at, likely forever.

Of course, for quieter networks you may run into the problem of content refreshing too little...

  • I've done it; results are...flaky at best, YMMV

I can't tell if it's just my cable or my Pixels being... Pixels, but transferring from one to the other had frequent dropouts, elevated temps, high drainage, and sometimes disabled USB transfer until you plugged and unplugged again.

Might not be an issue on flagships or other OEMs but idk

  • I'm a lefty that does appreciate debate in certain contexts, which seems to be somewhat unpopular nowadays. There would be no benefit in having a debate here except maybe in a very, very, very, very, very, very contextual, academic forum of a thought experiment (and I'm highly skeptical of even that, as you would have to presuppose some truly monstrous things).
Desantis is not going to be in that forum. He's going to platform KKK rhetoric used as a justification for slavery for nearly a century after its abolition. His staffers are quite literally Nazis. The ethics of chattel slavery are very clear cut, similarly to how the ethics of sexual abuse are clear cut: for all but an infinitesimal section of people, the only people advocating for them are monstrous, disgusting bigots.

  • TIL cats also have eye-whites (sclera), their irises just big as hell

  • If it helps you feel better kbin.social doesn't seem to apply those suspicious votes

  • He should get that addiction to chewing wires sorted out

  • ActivityPub is more of a social network protocol rather than a messaging protocol. It assumes most data sent through it will get public by default and has very little encryption set up for it, let along E2EE. Now Matrix is a better use case for an open protocol like that and also offers bridges between other chat networks (I wouldn't be surprised if Beeper has Matrix under the hood).

  • Despite its cultural references being decidedly 20th century, it still hits notes that resonate with kids and adults years later. Maybe it has been getting long in the tooth, but I think that just points to how many people just can't put it down

Also "drenched in commercialism" is not the phrase I'd use; in fact it's anomalously under-commercialised as a comic book franchise, intentionally so. I appreciate that.

  • Farewell to #HoloYolo - the last release of its generation, and the first of Android RunTime

  • If there's any company that could actually do that it would be between PayPal and Metabook, not Muskrat. He's not that guy

  • Why is he stealing Xorg's logo?
