  • Ah true, I kind of forget about those ones. I stepped on a brown snake while running (kept running), lay down in the shade right next to a death adder (started running), had a tiger snake come under my front door (started murdering).

My brother got bitten by a rough scale, probably would have died if he wasn't built like a particularly large brick shithouse after they gave him the wrong antivenom...

  • Scree slope leading to an extremely high over vertical dropoff at the top of a mountain. Slipped, started sliding and couldn't scrabble faster than the loose rocks flowed.

There was one single small scraggly shrublet. It had a single root that after previous rock slides had been exposed for a good foot.

I scrabbled sideways and managed to get one hand onto the root just as my feet were going off the edge. The root creaked and for an eternity I thought it would break. It did not.

I pulled my legs back up and managed to scrabble the fuck back up. Worst school excursion ever.

  • My dog lives in a perpetual state of happy confusion and it pleases me so much when he does the head rotation. It never helps him understand anything but he sometimes rotates even further once I start giggling uncontrollably.

  • Well that's where it originated from. Scuppers on ships were the deck drains that let water that came over the railings drain back out.

A ship was deemed scuppered when it was so low in the water that water could now enter through the scuppers, which is a bit of a point of no return in sinking a ship. No bailing or pumping will help at that point.
