  • For one thing, he was charged with second-degree murder. The prosecutor would have to charge him with manslaughter (and/or negligent homicide), which would require competence.

The fact that the prosecutor is simply dropping the case instead tells you immediately how incompetent they are.

  • A capital crime where we can skip the trial and just execute you without due process? Without you entering the school?

It’s a crime to carry a firearm without a carry permit.

That's next-level false, partly because it's state specific. You know this incident happened in Wisconsin, right? They let teens hunt deer with rifles, and while they need a hunting permit to do so, they don't need a carry permit.

In fact, if the rifle was unloaded - and there is no evidence it wasn't - it can legally be carried on school grounds in order to reach a hunting area.

  • There are significant downsides to a large population, some of which are a function of the buildings required to house them, like how you supply all those homes with electricity. There is absolutely such a thing as too many people and such a thing as too many buildings and/or buildings which are too large.

  • Your belief contradicts trivially-observable reality - you're making falsifiable claims that have, in fact, been proven false, and 10 to 15 seconds of internet searching would suffice for anyone, including you, to see that.

Easy example: the parabolic arc of the dust thrown up by the lander tires would have cost more than every penny the USA had at the time to fake.

  • Why would Gazans attack a pier being built to being them aid?

Hamas would absolutely, unquestionably attack a pier being built to bring Gazans aid. Hamas has never been interested in helping their fellow Gazans - which is why e.g. they committed Oct 7 in the first place, even though it was guaranteed to make life worse in Gaza. You're confusing a tyrannical terroeist group with the Gazan people in general, i.e. you're spouting the same rhetoric Netanyahu does.

  • rather than the person who is receiving the income.

Yes, this seems deeply fucked up.

    From the article:

He also didn’t know that tenants renting from a non-resident are required to withhold and remit 25 per cent of their rent to CRA each month, unless they have a property manager doing it for them, or if the non-resident has made alternate arrangements to pay their taxes.

Why would Canadian law require that? I've never heard of a country forcing people to pay other people's income taxes outside of countries that still have forced inheritance of debt, like South Korea. Makes absolutely no sense. As in this case, the requirement about non-residents is inane, because the renter has no way to assess resident status.

  • That's deeply inaccurate. When AZ became a state, the legislature at that time imported all their old laws into state law. The AZ court was correct when it found that there was simply nothing on the books invalidating that.

The idiots here are in the AZ legislature, not the AZ Supreme Court.

  • Uh.... I'll try.

Society can't be trusted to handle things like adults should. If it could, very well-done drawings of minors depicting them as nude would be a non-issue as blackmail material both because society would just shrug off any such images being published as inconsequential and because minors would be raised to know that cooperating with blackmailers accomplishes nothing productive.

  • If we could implement maturity and so on, ease of access to the tools would be a non-issue. And the tools would be as legal as crayons or pencils, and the "material" as legal as any cartoon. But I agree with you that this is a super real practical problem, because we can't.
