  • Thanks for reaching out. I'm at 12-15 6-9%s every night. Once or twice a week I'll drink one or two before I leave for work so that the worst of the hangover hits at home/ can be staved off with another beer once I get back. I truly appreciate your sentiment and want to use this to give me some momentum to quit. I know I'll have the shakes and be super sweaty for a week, but I can work with that. I quit meth, alcohol and smoking before, I can kick beer again. I think part of the problem is it's a lesser issue than the other stuff I quit so I let myself keep slipping. Again, thank you

  • Ya I get off on the 4th of July and Christmas. That's it. But they give 2 weeks of floating holidays in lieu of that, 3 weeks PTO and 2 weeks of sick time per year. That's a great setup in my industry and I attribute it to them being from the Netherlands. I also work 12 hr shifts and anything beyond 8 is OT, which is a choice by them, because I think it's only required in California and I'm not there. The last company I worked for was based out of Cali, did not have that OT policy, and only 2 weeks PTO and 1 week sick time. So I'm only speaking anecdotally but from what I've seen, European companies take better care of their people, even when not legally mandated

  • I wouldn't say never, but you're right that we should measure the system based on it's output once it starts running. The important thing is to prove that the concept can be net positive. If you can get a long enough life out of it then the manufacturing impacts are negligible

  • The crazy thing is that RCS is entirely compatible with Apple. If they would refuse to develop for it and lock down their App store to keep 3rd party developers from making apps for it themselves

  • I feel you, my pain tolerance is low too. I'm not gonna lie, you'll be a miserable asshole for 3 days while you're healing. But if you're suffering chronic headaches it's worth it in my opinion. If it's not effecting you severely then I would probably just pound Mucinex and Claritin/Zyrtec/whatever. You do whatever you think is best, it's your health after all. I'm just trying to relate my experience to help inform your decision. It's hard to choose to go under the knife and I understand your hesitation to do so
