I happen to be in this thread due to bouncing around, so I'll explain anytime I use Democrat/Democratic/Republican:
I've had various liberals tell me Democrat was a form of dog whistle or sign I'm a right winger. One person started to dig into my mutual aid info trying to figure out if I was a Russian bot because I said "Democrat" instead of Democratic. I've tried to Democratic as a noun, and it felt grammatically incorrect. "I'm running as a Democatic." "The current majority in the house is with the Democratics."
Personally I think "Democrat" works for both candidate, party, and voter. "Biden is the Democrat's Nominee" vs "Biden is the Democratic nominee".
I have no idea if one is better than the other, but I tend to use one over the other when needed.

It's equally frustrating and vindicating that people are waking up to the alarms minorities have been sounding for... decades? Even during 9/11, people were saying this is the start of the end for any form of freedom. Then we had economic crash after crash. Then more rights removed. More drone strikes. More illegal wars.
Then we tried to warn about Trump. No one cared. He won. The people who said he would hurt did get hurt. People acted shocked.
Biden came in. Ignored the people in jail cells, ignored COVID for better polling, refusing the new powers given to him to do anything better for the country at large, and slowly turning into a walking skeleton.
And every single time people have said "Hey this is bad for any form of democracy" people said it was overblown, nothing bad would happen. Then it got worse and worse. Voting didn't solve most of the issues. Protesting did. And then both parties clamped harder on protestors and increased funding to the militarized police.
Welcome to Weimar Germany, America. People have only warned you for decades. If this doesn't wake anyone up, then you'll sleepwalk as you claim ignorance on why you're "just following orders".

I started calling his bullshit out in 2020 when he was an old racist who his now VP said he was an old racist whose policies impacted her. I knew him as the senator who didn't believe Anita Hill when she said Clarence Thomas raped her. I knew him as the senator who made the 90's crime bill that made BIPOC even worse off and acted like it helped them. I knew him as a senator who helped write the USA PATRIOT Act, the greatest mass removal of constitutional rights in the name of racist polices anti-terrorism.
And even then I voted for him 2020 because he was "Not Trump." Didn't matter, I live in California, but I didn't want smug NeoLibs saying my vote for the greens in 2016 in California is what single-handedly gave us Trump.
This is legitimately scary. Trump does this every second, now Biden is doing it every other conference. 4 years ages anyone, let alone the man in charge of NATO, the biggest economy, and running for re-election.
I am genuinely starting to be at a loss. I understood the life long stutter, I understood people age differently, I understood that soundclips and sneaky edits can make things look bad, but Jesus Christ. Is this the same day as the "President Putin"?
And then blamed for ruining the 2016 American election.
Snowden showed the government was spying, had to flee, deemed a terrorist. Assange showed the government disobeys the laws it enforces on everyone else, deemed a terrorist. Manning showed that war crimes are constant, deemed a terrorist, subjected to inhumane torture.
Every time a whistleblower exposes corruption and violations of laws in every country, they are punished. China, Russia, America, England, they're all guilty of it.
That's like reporting on the sunset every day. Trump is a known monster, Trump is a known dipshit, Trump is known to be a criminal. We get news when something new happens. 36 felonies was news. Being sued for his rape is news. Him being unable to keep his mouth shut wasn't news until he was given a gag order and violated it.
If they dedicated every minute to Trump's bullshit, we'd either:
Have no time for actual news, unless you dedicate an entire team to it.
Give him more free press from liberal media, which is why we got Trump in the first place, where even commentary and anti-Trump news anchors just let his speeches play unedited until they cut to the anchor.
We do get news about Trump each day, the Project 2025 hacked showed he was lying about being ignorant of it, what a shock. No one cares about it until "what about trump?!"
I've had people think since my mastodon account ends in todon.eu they think I'm like a secret agent, but too stupid to notice that the .eu would give me away. It's Qanon-level of thinking, of how there's secret clues everywhere that only they can see but the shadow cabal left them there for the truthers to find.
