  • She still lied. She openly refused to call it a genocide, she said Israel was "defending" itself, and she helped Biden sell the lie that they were working tirelessly for a ceasefire and a two state solution. That's all lies too.

  • Lying to Americans about Gaza has been the bipartisan policy our entire lives lol

... although, yeah, him tearing up the nuclear deal in his first term and his Arab-Israeli normalization plan to unite Israel and the Gulf states against Iran actually might have set us on this course. The nuclear deal could have potentially brought Iran in-line with US interests in the region, and he blew that up. Normalization, meanwhile, was basically the reason for Operation Al-Aqsa Flood which started this phase of the Israeli genocide against Palestinians (to be clear, the genocide was ongoing before Oct 7th).

In the counter-factual, where Hilary won and the nuclear deal was maintained and Iran was brought in with the rest of the Gulf states in alliance against China, Israel probably would have been able to carry out its ethnic cleansing of Palestine without a war. Instead, thanks to Trump, Israel is going to destroy itself trying to wage war on all of its neighbors and will be broken against the Axis of Resistance.

  • Naturally people will blame Trump because he doesn't really care about Ukraine, but this was inevitable when Israel started sucking up all of the USs military aid. Without a massive increase in industrial capacity to build even more weapons, eventually, the stockpiles were always going to run low.

  • Because it's a weak vassal state and it exists to obey the imperial core.

  • Critical support for Trump's struggle against US cultural and scientific imperialism.

  • What is the reason you think philosophy of the mind exists as a field of study?

In part, so we don't assign intelligence to mindless, unaware, unthinking things like slime mold - it's so we keep our definitions clear and useful, so we can communicate about and understand what intelligence even is.

What you're doing actually creates an unclear and useless definition that makes communication harder and spreads misunderstanding. Your definition of intelligence, which is what the AI companies use, has made people more confused than ever about "intelligence" and only serves the interests of the companies for generating hype and attracting investor cash.

  • Let me rephrase. If your definition of intelligence includes slime mold then the term is not very useful.

There's a reason philosophy of the mind exists as a field of study. If we just assign intelligence to anything that can solve problems, which is what you seem to be doing, we are forced to assign intelligence to things which clearly don't have minds and aren't aware and can't think. That's a problem.

  • If your definition of intelligence doesn't include awareness it's not very useful.

  • Republicans are going to kill me, but Democrats let them.

  • I'm not saying the Democrats could do anything now, but that they could have done this same thing when Biden was president.

Democrats certainly acted like they needed a 3/5 override, it's no wonder you thought so.

  • Bouta find out if the parliamentarian is real, or just something Democrats pretend is real.

  • So is mine, but if there isn't a civil war my state is still going to put me in a camp for being trans.

Let me rephrase: do you think we'll be safe if the US doesn't collapse?

  • You can’t get enough people to vote for your cause

But... enough people just voted for Mamdani? That's what the thread is about?

  • That's what's going to happen to us if the US doesn't collapse.

  • The Federal government is going to draw up and execute its budget as if they had the funds anyway.

That's what I was getting at when I pointed out the fact that the feds print their own money. The federal government would be fine.

I was just running the thought experiment of "would this even do anything" under the assumption that it was successful. And it's a fantasy on its face, even in the best case scenario it accomplishes nothing.

And the best case isn't what would happen, because ultimately you're right and this won't be allowed. There are a lot of mechanisms the federal government has to compell the states to pay their dues.

  • I have no idea if this would even do anything.

The federal government prints money. If the states don't pay the federal government it doesn't actually mean the government will run out of money.

What will happen is the money supply will balloon, because federal payments are one of the ways the government controls the money supply. If those payments don't go back to the feds, the delayed payments will stay in circulation.

That might create inflation? Will it do anything else? Again, no idea.
