  • The courts won’t do something unconstitutional.

    Why?

    Are they stupid?

  • Looks like the police are more diligent about planting weapons on the people they kill.

  • Sure, but now you have to make a bunch of assumptions about things we can't test or observe to keep the universe consistent with determinism. It's not impossible that the universe is predetermined, but there's just no reason to believe it is. You're making more of an aesthetic argument than a scientific one.

  • It's not that there aren't other ways to explain the universe, but rather, none of those alternatives are more predictive or descriptive. Not only can't we find hidden variables, we don't need them.

You can believe there are angels dancing on the heads of pins (or whatever) and that's the hidden variable causing uncertainty, but there's literally no reason to. You're introducing addition unnecessary complexity when we can explain everything without it.

  • The only reason it's possible in voice acting is because actors have unions. I'd see nothing wrong with other labor unions demanding that studios hire minorities to write, design, and animate too

We should be expanding the standard, not tearing it down.

  • That's called Hidden Variable Theory, but there's also no indication that this is how the universe works and everything we find just reinforces indeterminism and uncertainty.

The most notable development is the math working out to make hidden variables irrelevant i.e. they do not actually help us better describe reality or predict outcomes of measurement.

The math doesn't seem to care whether God is rolling dice or not.

  • Oh it's even worse.

The universe is indeterministic. It's probabilistic and uncertain, but that doesn't mean you actually have a choice. Your "choices" are just determined by quantum dice rolls.

Anything can happen, nothing is certain, but you still don't actually exercise will over reality.

  • How is that true in a way different from other industries?

It is the same in other industries, the dominant race always has better employment opportunities. It's not really specific to voice acting.

At least in VA we are able to actually force companies to hire minorities.

  • Increasing antisemitism benefits Zionism. They make the world unsafe for Jewish people so they all have to go live in Israel and fight for its existence, because it stops being safe to stay in their home countries as Jews. Zionists want to turn millions against Jewish people worldwide so they have to become Israelis. They don't see any danger, it only benefits them.

  • Because if you get captured alive, you likely will rat out your allies due to the torture.

This is based on the assumption that torture works, which again, is doing the regime's work for them. It doesn't. People under torture will say anything and everything, make up anything their captors want to hear, which means the torturers aren't actually going to get useful information. You don't have to "hold out" against the torture, you just go insane and anything they get out of you is gibberish.

I recommend reading Shock Doctrine, torturers are great at completely destroying people and ruining them for the rest of their lives, but that's it. There's nothing left after that. It's a fate worse than death. Definitely don't get taken alive.

The resistance movement must go underground.

USAmericans need to study Palestinian resistance and Israeli colonial occupation. Gaza is coming.

  • Don’t think you can be a “tough guy” or be a revolutionary, most of us (including me) wouldn’t last 5 minutes of torture.

You're doing the regime's work for them. "Don't resist citizen, there's nothing you can do when we come for you."

  • The race of a voice actor doesn’t matter

This is a one-way ticket to everyone being the dominant race behind the scenes because studios won't hire other races.

  • Also, hire someone who dropped out of school and got a chatbot to lie on their resume.

  • Well, no, feudalism was actually fundamentally different. Power didn't come from money, it came from land and alliances and shit.

  • I think it's art-adjacent, what we should find is that actual artists are going to be better at generating good prompts.

  • Permanently Deleted

  • Many worlds theory gives us an alternative - in one world I left my phone in 1929 and that shaped that world tremendously.

But that didn't happen in my world and it can't, because my world is the world where no one left their phone in 1929.

  • It's my understanding that speed cameras don't actually make roads safer, they just generate revenue for the city.

  • While I’m on this soapbox, making AI art doesn’t make you an artist any more than commissioning an art piece does. There is literally no difference between telling the AI what you want it to draw, and telling a human what you want them to draw. You are not an artist, you are a client.

Except humans are smart and can fill in the blanks of what you mean when you tell them to draw a picture. You don't need any skill because the artist is skilled.

The slop generators are dumb af, massaging them to produce good results is definitely a skill. They aren't good enough to fill in the blanks like a human artist and it's up to the prompt generator to convince it to draw something that doesn't look like shit.
