Because some people don’t like the bloated ‘smart’ operating systems on their tvs or how they operate. I.e. input lag when pushing buttons, showing ads or other stupid bullshit.
Tbh I’d rather have a large stupid lcd panel that just turns on and shows whatever I plug into it via hdmi.
The only alternative to replacing the board are commercial displays, but those are very expensive.
Wifi keeps waking up the phone, draining the battery, then craps out when you want to use it. The camera has like 5fps with 1998 flip phone quality. Forget about multi tasking. It connects to the cell network so calling and texting should work. Want to use an app for something? Too bad.
That’s my experience from two years ago, I had the distro hopping sd card and tried all os versions at the time. It’s just not there yet.
The only use I see is dropping it somewhere and then using it as a jump host over lte, but I haven’t tested that.
Jellyfin, kodi, openelec, emby and plex are currently the best self-hosted media streaming platforms. Just attach some hard drive with your vacation videos, ripped dvds/blurays, other owned content and you can have your own service that is only available in your local network at home, for free, with whatever quality you want. One benefit is that this will still work in the rare occasion that your ISP screws up and knocks your neighborhood offline. The downside is you have to have sufficient storage and need to acquire your media yourself.
Looks like generic ass but with a ccp twist. I guess no skeletons in this one.
