it is a start. fraught with danger, but I would join an organized strike with donations and time to keep union members fed and housed. the us has a history of turning guns on protests. I am... concerned.
still slightly less painful than listening to vogon poetry.
look, the hyperspace bypass is upon us. if you happen upon the literary equivalent of a subether sense-o-matic and a digital thumb, I will have my bathrobe and towel at the ready.
the ignorance is by design. our entire society has been programmed for consumption not critical thought - and this has been done from all sides at the behest of the corporate oligarchy.
as angry and disappointed and depressed as I am with the outcome, its a deep structural failure and I have a hard time placing the blame on those that simply decided to check out and not participate in their own civic education. every pressure on the american plebian has been to keep your head down, ignore the growing deficiencies and consume.
yup, been doing this ever since it was availabe on orbot. easy to do and helpful to the Tor network users. please consider doing it yourself. thank you, OP!
like others, I initially did not get your point. after following the thread, I understand what you are saying and I think the point is absolutely valid - so I am glad you did not simply drop the thread. shits really, really bad but we all need to tone down the reactionary kneejerks. the responses you got come from a place of genuine terror and confusion, so it may be useful to incorporate that understanding into the public dialogue when the arguments appear to become personal or dismissive or whatever.
you are right, the GOP has absolutely capitulated to its führer in exchange for a place at the cadaver feast; consumed in the bloodlust, they aint coming back anytime soon.
so sure, accept help from the few remaining republicans that might feel some sense of patriotic/moral obligation to the country and are willing to voice it, but they seem even more neutered than the democrats right now. I expect nothing useful from them any time soon and, until some token republican resistance manages to evade crib strangulation, we are on our own.
I wish you the very best. know that many, many, many of us consider you to be true friends and neighbors. please be there and sane should we manage to reverse this disaster. we will need you.
“Watch USAID tonight,” Chris Murphy, a Democratic senator and member of the Senate foreign relations committee, said in a post on X on Friday evening.
Chuck Schumer, the Senate minority leader, citing a “rumor” that Trump planned to dissolve USAid as an independent agency, said in an X post that such a move would be “illegal and against our national interests”.
said on where, now? Democrats continue walking happily into the choppers. are any of these idiots also on something a little less Nazi? yes, I know a few are, but where is everyone else?!
I feel you and I agree, but raided by whom? the doj is compromised along.with virtually every other enforcement agency.
trying to not be defeatist, but our last peaceful hope likely resides in a combination of public protests, insider leaks, non/malicious-compliance and A DIFFERENTIATED, PROGRESSIVE, WORKER/MIDDLE-CLASS PLATFORM FOR 2026 (if we get that far). other than that, there will probably be bloodshed.
someone give me a more optimistic and realistic alternative... please?
They see everything as: Are we winning the media today? Right now their program is let’s go to Aurora [in Colorado], let’s do the road show of enforcement. When we have no more blue cities to do that in, then we’ll pull up the worksite raids. This is about a messaging campaign.
and shit like this gets dressed up in "the right to work act" doublespeak.
