That’s how Reddit was for the majority of its life. This isn’t strange, the stuff that made people stay during that time is the conversations you can have in comments

I will say these headlines are slightly misleading because you can have nations as small as the Vatican or they could be referring to small nations like Romania and the sort. And that is vastly different energy usage between the two

So lemmy is somewhat an echo chamber sure, but I feel if you word it nicely and approach with an open mind you can have really good conversations if you don’t agree with a topic and want to understand more. Whereas on Reddit I find it extremely difficult to have actual conversations

So for an MMO OSRS is amazing with this. I can usually connect across the world and notice no lag. In fact I don’t know if I’ve ever had lag with it, whatever they’re doing it’s great.

I think you’re just listening to that group a lot? If you go to a sales event or an expo people will say your name and make eye contact. It’s really normal behavior that in a normal situation you don’t need to over analyze but it is being amplified in those situations

Unfortunately, I think we all know how it ends at least on the individual scale. On the larger scale I think this is more endemic now tbh and at best we can just educate and rehabilitate when possible

Any nation with a huge influx of cash in the span of a few decades will seemingly catch up fast. The culture of the nation tends to hold them back though
