  • Lot of folks here making the "nothing to hide? Great show me your browsing history" type arguments.

I think this isn't really arguing in good faith. There's a big difference between a personal friend knowing something about you, and a faceless algorithm knowing something about you. The two cases are different; it's fair to argue about how one is better or worse, but they are different.

  • Best use of my pressure cooker*! Bulk black and pinto beans, 40m in the cooker with water and salt, then onto the stove with sauteed onions and garlic, a fair amount of oil, apple cider vinegar, pickled jalapeno or two, spices... absolutely fantastic with some rice. And our toddler loves it too.

*Instant Pot, but pressure cooker sounds more... haute cuisine.

  • Sure. But that's unrelated; Apple is a publicly traded ("public") company. IKEA, for example, is a privately funded ("private") company. Being largely proprietary is separate from the ownership structure...

  • I don't get all the Apple hate from the Linux community. Out of the box you have a fully usable *NIX machine --- they even switched the default shell to zsh! No advertising in the Start menu, and ssh (client and server) included by default. Install homebrew and boom --- tmux, htop, nload, lolcats.....most of your favorite tools can be installed easy as on any linux distro.

I use Debian for personal use, and I much prefer it...but basically only because I prefer i3 to the Mac GUI.
