I would say it's best to focus on yourself and the things that make you happy. Not to say that you can't go after romance, but sometimes people end up worrying too and get desperate or too down on themselves and that's typically a turn off which will ultimately work against your goal.
Or knew someone who died. Or had to work customer service as an "essential worker" in a blue city in a red state where customers treated you like shit for enforcing the mask mandate. Or had a family member that got brainwashed by the president into thinking they were literally going to have to shoot you in the upcoming Civil War. Or you had to isolate from your friends and family because your partner had a pre-existing condition. Otherwise, pretty good times.
I did eventually end up leaving my original library for one in a blue state. Library positions don't pay a lot and the future of libraries is very much under attack. But you do it for the passion of literacy and helping the community however you can.
Yeah I'm all about consent for what you consume but I would love to feed some people an impossible burger or a vegan "chicken" sandwich and see if they could really tell the difference.
I was surprised by the amount of people that went back. Or went back and stayed. Especially considering the welcome message. That shit was insultingly disgusting.
